what do you transport your game plus expansions in? Sun, 25 January 2015 19:26
I am beginning to accumulate quite a bit of memoir material. When I travel I love to introduce my friends and family to this wonderful game, but its beginning to be a lot of boxes to carry around. So I was wondering, does anyone have any solutions or do I need to make a custom box? Thank you!

My answer is the custom box (sort of) I own the campaign bag and have in there: One original Memoir 44 box in which I store all my Tiles/hexes. I did a lot of work on the inside that almost n-one will ever see, because all the tiles are in the way. Rolling Eyes

But it looks like this:

Then I have the Equipment Pack box and the Air Pack box I put Dividers in to make separate compartments. In the Big box are all the standard units of all the nations the obstacles and the cavalry. In the smal one all the Equipment pack stuff and the airplanes. Also in the main compartment a selfmade box which holds all the carddecks and rule cards. All Battlemaps and some of the boards are in there too. In the front pockets I have two expansion boxes with separators in them too. One holds badges dice and cardholders the other a painted set of figures of a base game I bought recently. See photo:

In a separate small bag/suitcase I carry all the rulebooks and campaigns books and stuff. And then I have a large portfolio (like artists use) to carry around preprinted battle maps of scenarios from tournaments. But also some Overlords I printed out in two parts. This thing is really awkward because the sides sang a little, but I hope to remedy that by being some plastic plates that can also be used to lay overrated scenarios to protect them.

The campaign bag gets very heavy but if you have you want to show it. Cool

If you would like to see more pictures say so and I will probably get around to posting some.

I use a large canvas duffle bag with a shoulder strap which allows me to carry it up and down stairs when I need to. Be sure it has wheels and a pullout handle as this comes in handy when you have longer distances to travel from the car and helps making it across large parking lots.

I also have a large hard plastic Stanley tool tote with wheels and a handle and I usually take that to conventions. I can get almost all my Mem '44 stuff in there. I have built tile holders out of Styrofoam and place these in the upper compartments.

Jeronimon, those are some great pictures! I'd be interested to see inside your 'tile' box if you have a pic of that. Thanks for the replies!

To be sure the Tilebox was the one featured in my last post, but here a picture of it filled. As you can see I had to take some of the tiles out to show you the "scenery" inside. So almost no-one ever sees that.:

And just for fun the two boxes with units:

Feel free to ask any other questions. Smile

Jeroen,

Your use of the MEM44 boxes are ingenious. What products did you use for the dividers and the tile holders. It looks like it's custom made dividers. Is it plastic? Did you cut it to size? The tile dividers look like some type of heavy duty cardboard. I really need to do what you have done as transporting all the stuff is daunting. Thanks.

I use these boxes I got from Amazon:

They hold all of the expansions, while EP and the base game are still in their boxes.

Nothing beats getting the latest multi-compartment Plano tackle box to hold everything (except boards and books) in one place. I think my user pages still has some pictures. It sure speeds up setup.

Hi Eric,
Th dividers are simple cardboard but then I used plastic sticky film to cover it in two directions. I made separate containers for the tiles but this way I could fit 5 rows in instead of four. (I might post a photo of those containers later, haven't made a good one yet.)

Here is the bag with everything in it (except for rules, CB's and A1 printouts of scenarios we got at tournaments)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30626174/M44%20Stuff/M44Dozenetc/M44CBag.JPG

So this is two base games all the army expansions double (Russians Japanese British) four battle maps, Dd-day landings and two breakthrough boards and two standard boards (Ok I confess: The winter desert boards are not in there Smile )

In the right front pocket the box with all the badges rulers and dice. in the left front pocket a painted (third) base game set I picked up the other week.)

Oh and I
notice the card box is missing in this picture. Will probably post that later.

Having had this practice you should see the "inlay" I made for my Battledore box that one I covered with Battlelore images before putting the film over it. And that worked out really nice. Smile

First of all, Jeronimon, that's a clever and impressive setup you have.

I'll confess, I hate to throw things out, so I store almost everything in the original boxes, and I cart them around in a large, wheeled suitcase. Works great except on stairs.
