HELP -Tournament 8 player / 4 scenario game schedule Fri, 05 June 2015 17:41
Greetings All,

I am running an 8 player Mini tournament tomorrow at my local gaming klub, 6th June, using 4 DDay scenarios.

Basically 4 players will be Allied, 4 players Axis, and each play a different opponent on a different battlefield.
So you get to play 4 games.
Add up your medals and decide who is the best Allied and best Axis General on the day.
If there is time their might be a "play off" to determine best General on the Day.

My problem is that I have a six player 3 scenario game schedule, and I thought I had an 8 player schedule - yet it is flawed and doesn't work.

So, being a lazy sausage I am appealing to the community for anybody who may have such a schedule to post it so I may crib it.

A private message would work and we can exchange email addresses if need be.
Thank you in anticipation,

Fred the Obscure,
Durban,
South Africa.

Greetings All,

An update.

Two combatants have just dropped out.
Which is a huge sigh of relief, as I have a 6 player game schedule.

So my urgency/panic attack is off.

Still, if any body has an 8 player schedule I would like to source it.

Ta,

With 6 players,if there's only time for 3-4 games, have 3 people play Allies and 3 people play Axis, rotating pairs among 3 scenarios. Top Allied and top Axis player win ... our if time permits, have them play a 2-game match for the championship. (Similarly, you can match the middle and bottom pairs.)

I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out an 8 person 4 map scenario. I failed.

So 8 players with 4 maps would be four Allies (A,B,C,D) against 4 Axis (1,2,3,4).

Round 1: A-1, B-2, C-3, D-4.

Round 2: They rotate: A-2, B-3, C-4, D-1.

Round 3: A-3, B-4, C-1, D-2.

Round 4: A-4, B-1, C-2, D-3.

If there's time, best Allies vs best Axis.

I was also trying to rotate them where everyone would play each map once. Was not pulling it off.

Reluctantly, I have to agree with you. It appears that you can't have 4 players rotate among 4 different, pre-set boards and have non-repeated pairings in 4 rounds. If I had a bit more time, I'd be able to prove it regorously.

The best solution is to play a different scenario in each round -- using the same equipment, if that helps logistically.

Greetings Sam1812 and kymayer,

Thank you for your comments and expenditure of brain power to date.

I have also played around with the combinations and cannot get 8 players (4 a side) to rotate on 4 boards, only playing each board once.

Logic seems to say its possible, yet it eludes me.

Fortunately I had two drop outs, and so I could use a 6 player schedule - which does work.

If you crack the puzzle please post it.
