Line of sight, yet again Sun, 12 July 2015 14:05
Ran into this situation last week. Can the shermans view the german unit which is between the forest and the bridge?

No image shows up on my display. I am wondering what format the image is in?

Thanks. Would love to help you with this.
Usually if you are trying to display an image it has to have a URL address to refer to.

Absolutely. The tank unit can see the infantry unit between the forest and bridge. A line 'drawn' from the center of the firing unit hex to the target hex does not cross an obstacle hex. Fire away.

Yes they can !

You have to draw a line from the middle of the tile with the attacking unit to the middle of the tile with the attacked unit. In this situation, there is nothing to block this line.

For your information :
Hills can be tricky. There is a scenario on the DoW homepage with information about hills and line of sight. See this link :

See you on the battlefield !

Ok, I doubted because there was blocking terrain on both sides of the line.

Thanks for the help.

Actually there is blocking terrain on only one side of the line. The German armor actually has LOS to the infantry unit adjacent to the bridge. The infantry unit on the bridge is blocked by the adjacent infantry unit and the forest hex in front of the armor. The blocking units and terrain are covering the two sides of the line.

The LOS (which is traced from the center of the firing hex to the center of the target hex -- the infantry 3 hexes from the tanks) is totally clear as it does not follow along the border of a blocked hex at all. This was stated correctly above.

The forest hex next to the tanks is a bit out of line.

The best way to determine LOS is to use a length of string between the two hexes.
