Am I right to assume vigulisam withdraws from this tournament as well because he's to busy ? I will play only java.

Why do you wrote this before i wrote anything?

I've played 4 years, and this is my 3 clash ruled in that period, and I took part in all tournaments exept quick, I'm horrible leaver?

@ vigulisam: I wrote that because A; you quit swiss halfway through the tournament and halfway through our match. I think that's not done. You weren't too busy. You played AMC and Fusion over finishing our game. Disrespectful imo. B: you withdrew from MPWC because of java. I assumed from the beginning you would do the same here. That's why I wrote before the tournament "I refuse to do so in QF, SF F". It would seem I was one of the very few ones who actually knew you would not play java, even in the finals fase. It's a big surprise for everyone else. So not only did I do you a favour to play steam in 3 tournaments now, I also was one of the very few people to take an interest in your standpoint (though I disagree).

@ others: I play worse on steam. YET, I still play it to accommodate the tournaments in general and vigulisam 3 times specifically. Knowing that I would play worse and likely get frustrated and possibly hurt my rankings in TELO, I STILL accomodated others. It's ungrateful and stupid just to say, "oh, Truck has played steam before, he should do it again". vigulisam has played java before and his argument is that "it doesn't give me pleasure if I win or lose". Yet some of you seem to think it's a given fact that he doesn't play java and the only other option is to just play steam.

I accomodated many times before, vigulisam does not want to return the favour. That's ok - not great - but he should have made it more clear to gff, who was not aware of this.

ps: @ vigulisam. No you're not a horrible leaver, and yes, I know you participate in many tournaments and I know your position on steam/java. That's fine. But you defended yourself to others by suggesting Truck was almost as bad as vigulisam. I I certianly don't feel like I deserved that treatment.

Oh heaven help me.

Look.

YES, this thread is my fault. I should have kept the note about wanting players to play the semifinal match as a PM. I broke my own rule and now I regret it thoroughly. If I had kept it in PM with the players, I think we would all be happier and we might have moved forward in some fashion. I did not and I apologize.

I also admit that I made complaints to vigulisam about Steam during our match. Once I realized how it sounded, I apologized and clarified what I was trying to say. I believed we came to some understanding. Perhaps I was wrong about that. I am afraid my attitude during that match may have encouraged this discussion to go the wrong direction. Again, I apologize.

NO, I was not entirely clueless about how people stood here. I am just naive enough to think people might bend a little to make a tourney work.

Yes, I was upset when it becomes apparent that the semi round is going to be decided by one person's withdrawal. But, think about why I might be upset - I had to rearrange groups in both SMC and AMC.. more than once - because people withdrew after signing up AND because I was trying to honor platform playing preferences WITHOUT trying to make anyone look bad. I had to figure out how to deal with people dropping out during the tourney and then try to piece together a reasonable knock out round. I had to try to figure out how to maintain the integrity of these tourneys during the whole process. OH, and then we have this *bip* AND... I was only initially supposed to run ONE of these.

And, finally - the ruling STANDS.
Truck is in the final.

Why did I rule in favor of Truck?
1. vigulisam made it apparent that he was withdrawing
2. vigulisam showed no willingness to try to play in web. He was clear that he would not do so. Truck showed willingness during the tourney and at other times to accommodate and play in Steam. His statement about not playing Steam in playoffs notwithstanding.
3. I DID make a statement that I wanted people to split rounds if there was a strong feeling. I do NOT think I was unclear that I was looking for cooperation. I DID state that I would make a ruling if there was an impasse. So, I made one.

Good day.
R

I am sorry Rob, sorry to perpetuate this crap and sorry to imply that you're somehow responsible.

We've got about 5 players left who take these tournaments serious and 5 players who joined with mild interest and 5 who stopped playing halfway. Same for the last go-around of league. I just wanted to finish these last tournaments in a serious fashion. I did not realize how any of this reflected on you.

Being TD is a horribly ungrateful task. All the morons post in the forum if you make any kind of decision and if you're lucky you might get some thank you notes via PM. I was TD for a chess tournament with 300 players for 12 years. A whole city of chess players e-mail each other when one of them beats me in a league game.
