Rank score quirk? Wed, 29 March 2017 23:09
I just played a game of 4-person Pennsylvania and everyone had a higher rank score than me (pretty sure: I'm 12xx and at two of them were 13xx). I won the game, however my score only went up by 5 whereas one of the 13xx people went up by 10. What's going on there? I thought if you won against people with higher scores your score went up by more. The rank score evolution looked like what I would expect had I come second, not first.

Perhaps you were playing people who were provisional levels. (less than 20 games) Until a player has played 20 games, those persons skew the ranking factors. I am told it has something to do with not knowing their true level so computer treats them differently when they are involved in a game.

I've had several times the same issue, in my case the problem really was in provisional levels
