Time issue in Splendor app online games Thu, 26 January 2017 22:44
Hi. Does someone know how to turn off the time limit or increase it in online game? I'm used to play vs IA with no time and I play the real board game with my wife. Now she has bought the app too but none of us wanna play with the time limit. That is just way too stressful and not for us Smile but I can't seem to find the option anywhere. Does somebody know how to fix this? I mean surely they don't expect us to suddenly play with a fictive time limit? The real game don't have that.

Hi Whice! Welcome to the forums. Cool

Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the time limit for online games. You can push it to the max (15 days per player, I believe) giving yourself about a month to finish a game but you can't take away the time limit completely.

The reason for that, is because our servers can't store data for an unlimited number of games.

Have fun and good luck! Smile

15 days??? Don't think we talk about the same thing here Smile I talk about the time you have to make your desision. Buying a card, taking resources etc. You have less than a minute to do that. If you have to go to the toilet or think more than that you loose the game instantly. I find that very stressful and certainly hope it doesn't have to be like that? But thanks for the reply though

Ha! You're right...I was thinking about Ticket to Ride Online. The Online game of Splendor is a "live match" that plays in real time so it requires that player continue the game the whole time.

I guess you'll have to take the game to the toilet with you! Razz

If that is true then it truly is the last time I buy an app from Days of Wonder. It was very expensive to buy. And I had to buy it twice both for iOS and android. What a wast of time. You can play live without having the feel the stress that if you don't act within some seconds then you just lost the game. Man what a rip off. Glad I didn't buy ticket or Mysterium too. I'll contact days of wonder and get a refund. What a ripoff. But thanks for clarifying it for me.

Multiplayer for Splendor isn't asynchronous (which means that players have to stay playing the game the whole time). It was designed with a timer per turn so that players wouldn't just try to out-wait their opponent. If you're wanting to play with someone in the same room, it's better to just use the pass-n-play mode.

I hope this makes sense.

Nope, it doesn't make sense. They could easily have made the option of switching this function on/off the same way you deside if it should be ranked/unranked or an open/private game. Would have made sense to at least have made the ranked games timed and then in the unranged you could deside yourself. Not social in any way to pass the phone around so you can't follow the game. Man, they should have written this in their description. Would NEVER. have bought it for a second system if I had known thy had messed it up this badly.

My wife and I are with you on your sentiment. We both bought Splendor on ipad to play when we dont want to get the board game out but 60 seconds is rediculous unless your a speed freak. If the phone rings goodbye game, doorbell rings goodbye game, etc. I plead not to remove timer although that would be great but just add in ability to bump it up a minute or two. Even that would help tremendously. I dont see how another minute or two would hog company computer resources too adversely.

This is exactly the question I logged into the forums to explore, and it was the top post.

This is exceptionally disappointing.

I agree - the very short timer almost makes the online game un-playable. I HATE those gears. We have some friends who live a couple hours away who we like to play online games with. Pass n Play is not an option. But the stress of having to be there to take your turn no matter what sucks.

It should definitely be an option to turn it off, or at least set it to something reasonable like 5 or 10 minutes - or even a pause option - so that you can at least go to the bathroom if you need to. Mad

Yes, and the game says if you don't play in 2 minutes, you'll be replaced by an AI, but it doesn't even give you a minute before it boots you out of your game.
