Wanting to get back in Mon, 07 August 2017 04:01
I am nearing retirement and have a new gaming play group. A few are interested in Memoir 44 but none, including me, has any of it. How difficult would it be to get the base and most, if not all, of the larger expansions?

At this point it'll be a little tough (and kind of expansive) but many of them are being reprinted so I would suggest waiting until the prices get reasonable again.

Welcome back!

Thank you. Can you tell me which are being reprinted?

That isn't totally clear. It's easier to identify which ones aren't being reprinted...

Out of Print and not being reprinted:

Air Pack
Campaign Book 1
Campaign Book 2
First wave of Battle Maps

There are a few that might not be reprinted but I can't remember a definitive word on them. Maybe someone else will recall:

Tactics & Strategy Guide
D-Day Landings

I believe that all of the others are either in stock or will soon be in stock because they are being reprinted. I hope this helps!

That is a great help. Sounds like most of what I needed. I think everything on my wish list sounds like it will be available except the Air Pack.

Yeah, the Air Pack has been out of print for a long time and won't be back in its previous form. The other expansions are pretty amazing though, and oh so very fun!! Very Happy

The jury is still out on the Air Pack. Here is a link to a recent thread about such a reprint:

I'm not a native English speaker, but when they mention they hit snags with it (: new Airpack) it means it's not going to fly?

Hitting snags meaning that they have run into problems.

I was just suprised to even hear mention that the air pack had even received any attention from Days of Wonder in regards to a potential reprint.

I was going to say, I thought the first campaign book was available as a download. I would be suprised if the second campaign book isn't also available as a download in time as well.

I agree, most of the main items are still available out there. The air pack was a book of revised scenarios to include the use of the aircraft rules that came in the air pack. I beleive there were some rebalanced scenarios in that book too, that didn't use aircraft, but nothing I'm sure, that can't be found in the scenarios here on this site.

You got some terrain tiles in the air pack, but again, I think you can aquire pretty much the same tiles in other expansions.

The one nifty thing about the air pack was the inclusion of a deck of terrain cards. There might have been some troop type and other cards in it as well, but again you can print those from the card conpendium and make them yourself. Card sleeves make making your own cards a snap.

M44 has moved away from the use of the air pack rules in the time since releasing the air pack, so I wouldn't consider not having the air pack as any great loss.

I myself got out of M44 for a couple years, then got back in, and I've never regretted having re-engaged! It's a terrific game, and when you add in all those expansions and add ons, you have a very rich game.

There's a great community for the game too! Have fun and enjoy!

Thank you for the clarification Kaufschtick.
I wouldn't mind seeing a new Airpack with fighter-bombers (eg. Ju.88 is in Campaign book 2 Air Aces scenario). Meanwhile I've found a second-hand Airpack in Sweden for €140 excl. shipping.
The good thing about starting into Memoir '44 this late, is that there's a lot out there already as far as scenarios and expansions (even though stock is drying up). And you're right, a great supporting community!
