Re:WARNING Fri, 23 December 2016 21:54
I suppose I had better say something here.

My concern is that gen7* does not seem to want to progress from some of the issues exhibited last Winter. I thought people were trying to be very kind and worked to include him in tourneys.

Some of you may recall this:
Re:SMC Tournament Thread 2016 Sun, 07 February 2016 13:50 [Go to previous message] [Go to next message]
general7star - as of this moment has been disqualified from the tournament. After two warnings and efforts by more than one player to attempt to explain how tourneys work, there is yet another report regarding general7star's inability to show up for a scheduled match.

It is clear at this time that this is no longer a matter of miscommunication or misunderstanding. This shows a pattern of willfully ignoring persons in the group and deliberately avoiding discussion that would lead to solutions.

This disqualification only pertains to SMC at this time. It is up to the respective TDs of AMC and League to determine if further action is needed.

My apologies to the members of general7star's SMC group. If a ruling needs to be made with respect to unplayed/played matches to clarify knockout rounds, I will do so at that time.

Re:WARNING Fri, 23 December 2016 22:01
In addition to above, Siv had to give warnings as well in the AMC tourney being run at a similar time.

If I am, in fact, going to TD the SMC again this year, I am less inclined to include gen7* in the tourney unless something can be said or done to change my mind.

This has nothing to do with a ranking, nor is it a judgement as to whether gen7* can actually play reasonably well. It is simply that I want to run a tourney that people will enjoy participating in. If the history of a given player shows that they tend to cause problems, why would they be invited?

And so, gen7*, it remains to you to convince me and others that you can and will participate positively. It does not feel like you will - so fix it.

Your popularity doesn't seem to be sky rocketting g7s.
Maybe, in case you were really joking, you should consider having a more mature answer like "sorry for this misunderstanding ; I was joking" instead of calling people autistic.
We're talking of a community here, your rating won't matter if most of the good players won't play you due to your poor social skills.

If I can add to the general7star issue list:

I played a 2-person game on Steam against him on Feb 3, 2017. With one play to finish the game, I was easily beating him and it was his turn. He let time run out on his session. As he was replaced by the bot, I got a message that I too had timed out (I had 4 minutes left to my game). The game aborted.

I have asked DOW to take a look to see if this is a loophole in their software for a player so worried about losing and losing points that he's figured out how to never (or rarely) lose. Reviewing his recent games, his only losses where very close games where he didn't know if he should pull this lame stunt or not.

Sad, pathetic, racist, and unclear on the concept of sarcasm.

Question: What is going on when a player who is badly losing, then leaves and no points are awarded?

If a person is replaced by a bot because of a crash, ok fair enough; but when one just leaves the game because one is losing... No surprise then that this player rarely loses.

Player leaving should be replaced by a bot and lose automatically the game.
Problem is there seems to be a bug when the player leaves in some specific conditions. And that this bug seems to be exploited on a regular basis by some players. I guess if you suspect someone to use this loophole you should post his name here so we could gather our informations and get to know who are those regulars (it happened to me around three times with some players having a seeemingly undeserved high rating).

Yes, that seems to have been the case. It happened to me a couple of times on the Germany map. I did not want to post the name immediately (could be that I was seeing things that were not there and I don't want to wrongly make someone a suspect).
Two follow-up questions. What would be evidence? And are there ways to avoid the bug being used?

For one, I would get very suspicious if the person would leave right before his timer expires. That's the situation where this bug/exploit was mostly reported.
Second thing to watch is the hisory of the opponent who did you that. Does he seldom/rarely looses by a small margin ? If so, he could be a regular exploiter of this bug and mean he's finishing his games only when he's winning or not really knowing if he's loosing or winning.

I don't know of any way to avoid this bug, other than having the players I suspect of this beahviour on my ignore list. This bug doesn't exist as far as I know on the web app java. But there's no Germany map either.

If you're feeling uncomfortable publicly accusing someone, maybe you could send me the player names by PM ?

I've played a few games with mynotor right after having watched a match g7s vs knockando.
He asked me for a 6 swiss games match and left somewhere in the middle of the second game. If I remember right he lost first game and was behind on second one. Nothing really fishy here.
We had a talk and he pretented he was a friend of ("he knew well and admired") g7s. If indeed it's the same person the whole story seems pretty funny.

Knockando seemed to tell g7s had a potential for being a top player. Sadly mynotor didn't. I don't know what's really going on, there could be some geniune stuff and there could be some heavy cheating too.

Of course I'm also really interested in any explanations you could add. I also understand it's far from easy proving your innocence if it were the case. At least, you could give some explanations on the accusations of cheat/exploit that have been seen lately on steam chat.

Mynotor est mon petit frère. Il a 10 ans. Je n'ai jamais utilisé un autre compte pour jouer contre des tops players; c'est ridicule.
Je joue surtout sur Java présentement (avant qu'il ne meurt).

A couple of days ago I noticed that in the Steam lobby several users were complaining about General7Star and were describing exactly the tactic described in this thread. They were advising others to put him on ignore list. I didn't think to get a screenshot, sorry.

My question though is about aliases. Some users on Steam were asserting that General7Star had been using the alias Pianistman and pulling the same crap. They were certain that those two usernames are the same person and that both should be blocked. It wasn't clear to me why they were so sure though.

Has anyone here seen Pianistman [I may not have the username exactly correct] using General7Star's particular sabotage-a-losing-game trick?

Thx Chinetter, not many Steam players find their way to the forum.

To everyone: There is a page on DoW to report abuse, but it's hard to find. Make sure to take a screenshot and include it in your post.

Under the tab "About", click "find our how to contact us"

https://www.daysofwonder.com/en/contact/

Click on Digital Games > Report Abuse

DoW will be far more inclined to react to that, than reading this "WARNING" thread.

There is overwhelming evidence by now for the community to know precisely the kind of player general7 blah blah blah is - twice in one day on steam, had him crushed, he takes advantage of the glitch, pulls tix on second last turn of game, bots, game aborted, program ends the game immediately with no chance for winning player to play last move; g7 chicken *&^%$ avoids the loss since DoW records those games as 0-0 aborted games. Second verse same as the first....

G7S cheated against me also. I was excited to beat the number one player until I realized he cheats. I had him beaten 5 minutes into a 45 minute game. He made me wait 40 minute s not making his last move. I threatened I was going to post here and after 35 minutes he told me something like "what's wrong with taking my time?" Then for some reason when he ran out of time I got a message that the game was aborted rather than a bit to replace him (not sure how he managed that).

I have screenshots to prove this all but can't figure out how to post them.

the issue with this player has been reported time and time again; DoW is not in charge any more and Asmodee does not really care about the community;
You are all high ranked players, you could try to join the tournaments so that you play agaist qualified players that respect the rules and each other.

Hello to all,

I'm working with The TTR Team at Asmodee Digital. We are currently looking into G7S game's and attempting to retrieve logs and game IDs where there might have been some exploit.

We will keep you all posted on this, don't hesitate to provide any info that could help us fill up a flaw in our game.

Thank you dearly for being such a supportive community.

Hi billie, few tops are playing on Steam. I saw a lot of thread on the best way of reaching #1... Playing low ranked players is harder. And when I'm playing on Java, you don't want to play 2er... Not my problem if you have complain. In all cases, I've some free points to spare if you want to beat me! Very Happy

And I have positive records against other tops so my rank is : #1
