RIP GoF? Thu, 08 February 2018 19:05
Hi,

after a very long absence I have checked into gof a few times over the past months and it's like waking up in a world where the only survivors are bots.
Seems the same for the forum, last messages are from 2016.
What happened?
Is there an alternative site where the gof community has moved over to?

in any case,

hopefully see some of you somewhere.

Hi Thadd,
yes I lost connection to GOF for a year and numbers were dropping before then. When I returned only about 7 players and as you say the rest are bots.
Hard to ever get a game for 4 now but if you need one I am in.
It was a great game, we play at home sometimes but can be very frustrating.

The main problem was the understanding between players how the spirit of the game was played.

Best wishes

I too have the same experience.
I always have to play bots, because there is nobody there.

We can thank warmly the staff which litterally kills the GOF and his community and prohibit all solutions to make GOF alive again.
The game engine is totally unsuitable with new web development paradigms but when I offered them to develop an open version of the online game, they almost threatened me.

The hard knocks of past years were when staff decide to delete lots of forum posts and disgusts a lot of veteran players.
And the worst was the migration from a free play offer to a paid one.
Today I'll appreciate to show this game to new players, but payed for this really bad quality of service is totally indecent.

But yes, some players found an alternative : playing tichu on BrettSpielWelt portal. I can help some players if you are interested.
