3 player memoir Mon, 26 February 2018 12:43
For the relaxing evening activity of the Dutch Open 2018 tournament, there was a scenario with 3 parties.
It's ideal for 3-player memoir games (or even 6-player like we played it Saturday evening).

It seemed to work smoothly without any rules hiccups.
Unfortunately, it can't be set up on a regular memoir board. You'll have to find someone who attended the Dutch Open 2018 and therefor got a copy of the map printed on poster format.

Below a picture of how it looked.

Re:3 player memoir Mon, 26 February 2018 12:46
For information:
Each section consists of 2 triangles. Your centre section is somewhat hourglass shaped, and your left and right section are diamond shaped.

But as this goes for each of the 3 nations viewed from their own baseline (in front of their medal track), your centre section is part of an opponent's right and left section.

Germans fighting Germans? Change the USSR army to US forces and you could call the scenario "Battle for Castle Itter" and make it 2vs1 Shocked

Hi Wim, let me chime in with the briefing:

For the game:

For the six player variant:

Germans were certainly not fighting Germans!

We have the Germans occupying LWOW the Poles rising up and the Russians coming to liberate LWOW from the Germans.

So three parties battle it out.
Why would I do two versus one? I can play that on the normal board I feel? Smile

Historic Information reads as follows:
Lwow Uprising - Operation Tempest - July 23 to July 27, 1944: Already in January 1944, the first Soviet units crossed the pre-war border between Poland and the Soviet Union. Under these circumstances, the Armia Krajowa devised a plan of a gradual uprising moving from east to west through the country as the Soviet troops advanced. Due to it's eastern location (in current day Ukraine), Lwow was one of the first large cities to start the uprising. As the Soviet 29th Tank Brigade advanced towards the city, the German Wehrmacht set up a defensive belt around the city, leaving the City Centre without defence. At that moment, the Armia Krajowa decided to start the uprising by taking over the City Centre and launching their assault on the citadel where they hoped to capture some heavy equipment from the Wehrmacht. The next objectives would be to capture the gas works to the north before the Wehrmacht could destroy them and to occupy the Levandivka district rail station to prevent the Wehrmacht from bringing in reinforcements by train.

The Soviet officers were badly informed about the plans of the Armia Krajowa. This resulted in some confusion within the Soviet ranks and the Soviet started to attack every armed person. At one point in time, there were actually 3 camps fighting for the city centre and many of the Armia Krajowa were killed or captured and executed by the Soviet army.

The battle lines are drawn, you are in command. The rest is history.

In the last paragraph we deviate a little from the actual truth. The Russians and the Poles were fighting the Germans more or less together. But The Russians did conscript Poles in a "rather forcing way" to their cause on the small and bigger scale of the political and strategical spectrum.

Or did you think the US soldiers (representing the Poles) were also Germans?
Disregard the colts of the minis and focus on where they hold their gun.
Shoulderhight = Aria Krajowa (Polish Home Army)
Hip Hight = Germans

The russians hav a distinct other color

The grey french soldiers from the equipment pack we used to depict the Armia Krajowa resistance units, who fought like the normal French resistance rules form M44. (depicted by two USA soldiers and 1 french figure.)

I don't think the organisers of the dutch open are allowed to sell you a copy, as there is copyright on the images they use (tiles and such).

Maybe one of the participants is willing to part with their copy and send it to you. I know I want to keep mine, but there was a family of 3 participating in the tournament (a son with his father and mother). Maybe they don't want to keep all 3 of their copies, and are willing to send you one of them.

In any case, if you don't want to miss out on whatever they'll do next year, you'll just have to make sure you visit Europe around the time they have their 2019 dutch open. And while you're here, you'll probably stay for a few days/weeks, so you might find someone who's willing to play this year's evening scenario with you.

Re:3 player memoir Fri, 09 March 2018 09:03
The Memoir'44 Brigade made it for the Memoir'44 Dutch Open 2019.

Due to copyright issues we can only do these kind of things as a one of. DoW is kind enough to do let us print scenarios for tournaments.

Distribution is not possible therefore.

If you want in on this kind of stuff I am afraid you will have to visit our Dutch Open (or one of the other tournaments where they provide printed scenarios.) I do realise this will be difficult for people who live far away and/or cannot travel as freely. But we have had visitors from the USA and some of our contenstants travel quite far to participate.

So to travel form London to our neck of the Woods is not unthinkable. See you in 2019! (23 and 24th of february.) Cool

I suppose something can be arranged. Do you want a digital file or the paper format or both? Where should it be sent? You can send me a PM with your address (paper format) or e-mail (digital format).

Kind regards,
Wim

(Edit: or you visit the dutch open next year and you get a copy there)

You make sure the photo is somewhere on the internet. There are several sites on which you can share photos. I generally use http://tinypic.com

Once you uploaded it to the internet from your computer, those sites give you the address of the photo.

You can use that to add the photo to one of your posts. On this forum, you should use the 9th button in the row "Formatting tools" just above the text box in which you type your message for the forum. It opens a pop-up in which you can copy the address of the photo you uploaded to a photo sharing site.
