EMC & SPWC : interest Tue, 22 May 2018 23:36
Hello to what remains of the community !

It seems there was no EMC (European Map Championship ; 2 player KO tournament on Europe map) or SPWC (Single Player World Championship ; 2 player KO tournament on US map) set up this year, and that this usually takes place earlier in the year. It also seems there is no real interest in a Euro League, that usually takes place around this season.

Therefore, I'm opening this topic to see the possible interest for those two major tournaments, the ones that should be kept alive if any...

I'd be willing to TD those tournaments, and I as believe there will be less players than previous years I could do both. I'd obviously be willing to share this responsability, or help a new TD if anyone is interested.

As far as I understand the state of the java applet by now, players should be flexible and to play ideally on both platforms (meaning no whinning about your favourite platform and be kind with your opponent in case he's NOT ABLE to play on the other platform).

In case there is some interest I'd be willing to try and advertise those tournaments on Steam. We very much need new blood.

Admission would be subject to a clean playing history, in case of doubt players won't be allowed to play.

Tentative schedule would be :
- tournament starts on 4th june
- tournament ends by end june/begin of july depending of the number of registered players (I can't imagine >32 players now)

Format is KO.

Let's share your thoughts everyone, and let's make this real even if on a small scale. Cheers,

Voj

Petite pensée.
Plus personne ne se soucie du classement. Même moi.
Pouvons-nous marcher en avant? Vous auriez un joueur de plus, compétitif ou pas, peu m'importe; j'aime ce jeu tout comme vous.
Longue vie.

coming month is not good for me to engage in any tournamnet, but I reply to state that I'm still here. However I can't play Java any more in windows 8.
So it seems that only if new players come in from steam this community may stay alive...

Steam is not geared to looking here.

That is a major problem with that platform.

I also cannot play in June.

I'm still interested in tournaments if cheaters are eliminated consequently. Otherwise not.

The interest for those "old format" tournaments seems low indeed.

On the other hand, I believe there is some interest for new players from Steam community. They might not be top players yet, but Rome wasn't built in one day as the say.

I'll try to think of new formats for tournaments, more adapted to Steam play (which tends to be much faster).

Typically, I believe we should start with very short tournaments (playable in a few hours ; maybe some 2-player KO system with two brackets (one for euro time and one for america time) in one evening with the final on an acceptable time for most of the time zones on the following saturday (21 CEST).
