Worst update ever. Isn't it possible to go back to the earlier version until you fix the new one?
So much lagging everywhere, when you start a game, when you finish... There's just to much to even write down here, I really don't understand how you managed to update it this way. Don't you test the updates first?

I really loved this game and I play every day but now it's almost not worth playing anymore.

Sorry it isn't working the way you and the development team would want! The updates are tested extensively, but please send in a Bug Report with the issues you're seeing so the team can be sure to address them:

I can't find the place on that page to report bugs. It just gives me a bunch of FAQs and if I click on the link for some other problem it says to contact the Support Client Service and doesn't provide even a hint about how someone would do that.

The bug (well, I've run into dozens of bugs, but this is the one I'm reporting now) I'm having is that on the France map, about 50% of the time when I click to see the table of available track kengths/colors the game crashes. I'm running it on an iPad Pro running the latest version of iOS. Since you provide no link for filing bugs, please take this message and file it for me.

I echo the sentiments of those who've asked you revert the game to its last stable version and go back to the drawing board. The France map just isn't worth it.

Agree!

Also, Me and some friends just downloaded TTR 12/29-18. We have noticed that even though you add people to your buddies list (who have TTR and joined AFTER the update), you can no longer invite them to games. The worst game glitch EVER! we are 4 people who bought this and can’t even play with eachother!!!
I have other buddies that joined before the update and I can invite them. So I KNOW it’s the update that f****d this up!

Fix it!

No, the update has nothing to do with it. Are you sure you are connected with the right Google Play account on your device? I checked your "player1494223" account, and I can see a reference to an Amazon account, not a Google Play account. This should be a hint that you are not using the right account and/or device.

Worst case, contact us at https://asmodee.helpshift.com/a/ticket-to-ride/?contact=1 and attach to your message whatever receipts and/or screenshots that you have, and we will be happy to manually activate the expansions on your "player1494223" account. This will fix the issue.

We just understood today what these delays were caused by. They happen only on some specific devices, which is why we missed this problem during testing - we're sorry about this.

The good news is that the fix is pretty easy, so you should see drastic improvements coming your way.

One important note about updates and fixes: sometimes, players can be surprised that a fix that we acknowledged or announced does not seem to be present in the next update. This can cause frustrated reactions like "you said you fixed it, what are you doing ?..." etc

The reason is that often a build may already be on its way for testing, or even for validation with the store (Apple can take several days to validate a submission). So the fix actually lands in the following update.

So think of the whole process as a pipeline. Fixes will arrive in your hands - and hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for communicating updates here to the community. Could you potentially comment on the iPhone X display (and iPad Pro)? At one point recently the iPad Pro had full screen, and it worked just fine (unlike on the iPhone X), but this was removed for some reason during the subsequent update. Will this return in the future?

Also, there has been a very longstanding problem with the Germany map being used for an online game with two or more bots, where it just hangs during ticket drawing. I've tried to correspond via the support link, but my more recent submissions have received no replies. It would be greatly appreciated if this could be fixed, as my friends and I have held off buying any new maps after Germany due to the poor experience compared to those of the past. I would really like to be able to play this map as it was enjoyable when I've tried it solo.

It sounds like you've committed to improving the user experience with this game, which as enthusiasts, we all want to see so we can love and promote it.

Yes, absolutely. A (correct) re-implementation is under work, for the iPhoneX, iPad Pro and also the Android phones that use the same screen factor as the iPhoneX series.

This is a old and vicious bug that has baffled us for some time now. We were discussing about it again at the development meeting yesterday, and one developer said she thought she had put her finger on the problem: with the Germany expansion, you have TWO drawing piles for Tickets, and one of them does not seem to behave properly. If the problem is confirmed, then it means that the fix will have to be applied at the Rules Engine level - so pretty deep in the code. There is nothing wrong with that, but the consequence is that we will have to trigger a forced update to everyone on ALL platforms (we have a system to do that) after releasing the fix. Otherwise you will have players playing online with different versions of the Rules Engine, which will bring mayhem, as you can imagine! Like in the physical world, you cannot play a board game if not everyone around the table agrees on the same rules...

In the current context of angst and anger from players about the past and coming updates, we prefer to stabilize the app first. The fix is going to take time anyway. So please be patient on this one, but now that we have a hint, we have good hopes to get to the bottom of it.

Just want to echo the thanks to Yann for commenting/updating in this thread, including the candor about how the developers' efforts are going on the various issues.

That is very welcome but also (sadly) quite unusual among game companies. It earns a lot of goodwill and patience from this here customer and I bet from plenty of others.

I'll try to remember to point users to this comment thread when they're complaining in the game chat about the current problems.

I've always believed in transparency: there is no need for us to put our head in the sand and pretend nothing happened. I think it is important that you are informed about what is going on, what our difficulties and our choices are, etc.

We have been working on the digital version of Ticket to Ride since 2005, it's important for us too!

Poor experience is an understatement. They ruined the game entirely. Been playing this game for years and loved it. It is cheap trash now.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and the transparency. It definitely earns my goodwill and patience knowing that there is a plan to address many of the problems with the game, and that some of the old bugs are certainly not forgotten.

I'll keep watch for new updates to be pushed. One other bug I didn't mention that has been around for a while is that the game seems to jump the gun when starting and says that you don't have a Days of Wonder account. Cancelling the dialog box eventually the account populates and you can log in. It happens often, but not always, on iOS, especially when the app re-launches and goes through the splash screen.

Although Yann does an amazing job watching these forums and answering questions (show me another top-tier developer who's engaging directly with the fans, especially when things aren't going as smoothly as everyone would like), he is very busy and might not see this bug report for a while. And it might then get lost in the shuffle.

Hello everyone,

A new update, version 2.5.14 is coming out, and is available on Steam, Mac OS, and Android (Google Play and Amazon). It is still under review by Apple for iOS, so please hang on there.

This update is mostly focused on crash fixes. For example, the crash at start-up on old Android 4.4 devices or the crash when going to the online area with an unconfirmed account.

There are still a few crashes left though, but the remaining ones should be lower traffic or harder to encounter - hopefully.

You should also see performance improvements on some (lower end) devices, especially when entering the end-of-game screen.

On desktop machines (PC or Mac), the cards in the hand were reduced.

What's next?

We are still busy on fixing issues and improving things. A fix for the flashing issue on the side of the screen in the Steam version is being worked on (we found the cause). We are also working on the other issues I already mentioned in this thread (iPhoneX "final fix"...).

We'll do our best to keep a regular pace in January, while maintaining our internal process (development -> QA -> beta testing -> release -> retrospective -> updated backlog).

As rasmussen81 explained, please follow the contact link if you find anything, even though I'll keep an eye here for a while and will keep on informing you in a direct manner.

Please make bug reports visible to the public. The lack of transparency compared to forum posts or App Store reviews may be great for you keeping a lid on how bad the December update was, but it’s terrible for us consumers.

As an owner and avid player it’s helpful to see other users report similar issue or who have the same criticisms, not just of bugs but of other changes that have been poorly received.

As for potential customers, it’s unlikely they’ll seek out even these forums let alone the bug tracker. That said, you are posting replies to App Store reviews admonishing people to use the bug tracker. So some potential customers might click through.

If you want us to use your bug tracker, then you should meet us half way by making all reported bugs visible. Otherwise I’ll just stick to reviews and forum posts.

2.5.14 showed up for my iPad. With speed mode enabled it’s a little snappier once I’m in a game. Outside of a game, screen transitions still animate very badly and screens just hang for a second or two before fully showing all UI components. This is especially bad when leaving a game before finishing. Like you’re posting something to a server and blocking the UI until you get a response.

The largely criticized “hand of cards” creative change is still present.

Even with the recent updates, which are appreciated as is your engagement with your users, still leaves me frustrated when I play. So even with 2.5.14 I won’t be playing (was a daily player) and my App Store review is still a “don’t buy” recomendation.

I was able to file a bug earlier about the broken Germany map, but the bug reporting tool has stopped working for me.

I'm playing on Amazon and there's no ability to buy France expansion . The buy button is there but doesn't do anything. I messaged a few days ago through the form but no response.

I withdraw my satisfaction with the new update! There is now an even more recent update that erased my France map. I can play it on my phone but if I want to play on my tablet I must pay again. Same account and everything!

Please correct the mess you guys seem to be creating.

Forgot to mention: my password has not worked consistently since October. Each time you give me a generic password to personalise, I then put in my own password but sooner or later it gives me a 403 or 404 error and I have to start all over again.

May I respectfully suggest that you recruit some testers or a focus group to test all these "improvements" before you foist them on the users a la Microsoft?

Could you please tell me which iPad model you have? I have an old iPad 2, and I also experienced the end-of-game delay on my good old iPhone 6, and it's completely fixed now with 2.5.14.

If it still happens, you might want to consider doing the usual "refreshing" routine on iOS: quitting other apps, or even restarting the device. After all, an iPad is still a computer, so a restart every once in a while never hurts, especially when encountering performance issues.

I'm curious to hear more details about your case.

Does your crash still happen on 2.5.14?

Since you are on iOS, you can send reports directly from inside the app: go to the station screen, then push "Support". You will have direct access to the FAQ. Press "Contact us" and you will be able to start a new ticket.

Hello luaprelkniw,

I hear and understand your frustration.

I checked your account, and I can confirm that it does contain the France map, so provided that you are connected with your luaprelkniw account (please, really double-check this), it will work - even on Steam!

I noted one thing, though: there are two Google Play identifiers attached to your account. Normally, this should not be a problem, but I wonder if the Google Play Store is not playing a bad joke there. You see, the expansions are activated by combining the answers from the Google Play Store and from the Asmodee.net platform. I wonder if the two accounts is not confusing this test. Note that this is pure speculation from me.

Regarding your login problems, could you please try to log in directly on the Web at https://account.asmodee.net/ ? This is the ultimate test to verify your credentials.

I look forward to your answers. Then we can switch to a private channel to dig the matter in more details if needed.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, Yann. All my devices are using version 2.5.14; the android phone has France, the android tablet doesn't, and Steam has it back again (I don't know how.) If there are multiple Google accounts I don't know how to solve that.

My login at Asmodée works OK.

Oh for gosh sakes! France stopped working again on my Steam version of TTR. And now I have had trouble logging into asmodee.net, unlike yesterday. All these things seem to be changing on an hour-by-hour basis. And when I check my login on the tablet, my account number, email, and username are completely blank!

This is absolutely driving me crazy.
