Java version still playable (for Yann) Tue, 08 January 2019 00:53
Hi Yann,

I am Roald / Qorlas one of the old players and organizers of the online competitions.

This evening just for fun, I tried to open the old Java version, and I was surprised but it still works. I ried it with an old explorer and an old Java Version... but it works!!!! The trick seems to be of not updating Java.

Hi there,

Yes, it still works, but really, it's getting nearly impossible to have a browser supporting Java applets now.

I saddens me to say it, but one day will come a time when we won't be able to support it anymore. One day, there will be some OS incompatibilities that will break the poor thing beyond repair, or some problems with the (outdated) development tools...

Please note that if you bought the applet, you got a free Steam key to "side-grade" to the Steam version. I highly recommend you try it. There is a lot of traffic there, a more modern UI, the new maps, etc.

Check it out on https://www.daysofwonder.com/download

Thank you for your long lasting support of the game (10 years and 6,561 ranked games: not bad!). Have fun with Ticket to Ride!

Yann

Thanks for your answer! I already play with Steam and enjoy it Smile

I play on both platforms and have been part of the beta testing team more actively when I was less burdened by real life job Wink

Keep up with the hard work!
