Rules variations? Sun, 09 May 2004 01:17
Hi There!

I Wonder if there are any good rules variations to this Game? Is it possible to minimize the luck of the draw factor? Do anyone knows anything about future expansions (besides new maps)?

Kind Regards
Henrik

Hi,
We and our family love the game and spent many hours playing it. But as we are a big family sometimes one of us must only watch and wait. That is why we created a variant that allows up to 10 players to play in teams of two players each.
We have tested so far with six and eight players and it is incredibly fun since a little more intrigue and the fact how your partners play make your plans change and adapt even more with each round. Below you will find the rules.
Hope you like it.

Team variant: this variation allows up to 10 players to play. Each team is formed by two players each.

Setting up the game:
The players are distributed along the table following the sequence: 1st player team A, 1st player team B, 1st player team C, etc, 2nd player team A, 2nd player team B, 2nd player team C, etc.
Moreover, there are only two variations to the normal rules:
1) The 48 colored train cars are used. These belong to the team and may be used by both players.
2) Each player must keep at least one of the destination tickets, but may keep all three if he chooses.

Object to game and game turn remains intact.
IMPORTANT: The members of each team are not allowed to reveal their destinations to their partner by any means.

Game end:
We play until one team’s stock of colored plastic trains gets down to only none trains left at the end of his turn, each player, including that player, gets one final turn. The game then ends and players calculate their final scores.

Calculating scores remains the same.
