Compte tenu que sam1812 et lucky91 sont qualifiés pour le tournoi cette année, les scénarios seront choisis par d'autres joueurs qui ne participent pas au tournoi.
This tournament was jointly organized by sam1812 and lucky91 with the support of FFM44 and DOW. Similar messages are being posted on DOW’s French and English M44 Forums. Because both sam1812 and lucky91 have qualified for the tournament this year, the scenarios will be chosen independently by others who will not be competing.
This year, the tournament format will be differrent to last year.
For the first phase, competitors will be divided into 4 pools of 4 players each. These pools will play a round robin with 2-game matches at two scenarios in each of the three rounds (thus, 6 matches in all).
A player who sweeps his opponent will get 4 points (and his opponent will get 0). If each player wins 1 game, the one who gets more medals will get 3 points (and his opponent will get 1 point). In case of a tie for medals, each player will get 2 points.
At the end of these 6 matches, the 2 players who scored the most points in each group will qualify for the finals. If two or more players are tied after the 4-player round robin,, it will be the result of their head-to-head matches:games, then medals, then figures which will determine the winner. And , if there will be still a tie, the last match will be replay.
Les huit qualifiés joueront la phase finale qui se déroulera sous forme d’ éliminatoires (quarts de finale, demi-finales et finale). Le vainqueur de la finale remportera le Trophée des Champions 2019.
The eight winners will play Playsoff (Quarter-final, semi-final and Final). The winner of the Final with win the 2019 Champions Trophy.
Le classement des autres joueurs sera basé sur le nombre de points obtenus pendant la première phase et en cas d' égalité par le différentiel de médailles puis le différentiel de figurines .
The ranking of the other contestants will be based on the number of points obtained in the first Phase – and in case of a tie, the medals differential and then the figures differential.
Length of the tournament : to avoid a very long tournament , players must respect the deadlines. You have two weeks to play the 2 matches against your opponent .A player may ask an additionnal stayof one week if you are unavailable but only once by phase. If an opponent doesn't give news, the available player will play against a substitute and the other player will be forfeit for the 2 matches (0 points and a difference of - 6 medals). It's possible to play your match early.
Le tournoi devrait démarrer début janvier:
The tournament should start early January.
Mais avant d' en arriver là , pour les 16 joueurs qualifiés , merci de confirmer par message privé votre participation . Nous enverrons en parallèle un mesage privé pour vous informer de votre qualification .
But before that , for the 16 qualified players , you must confirm your participation by PM. We'll also send a PM to inform you of your qualification .

First results for Division Alpha, first round:
Battle of the Kerch Peninsula:
Aller : Franok (Allies) - Jeronimon (Axis) : 7-8 (29-27)
Retour : Franok (Axis) - Jeronimon (Allies) : 5-8 (25-29)
Total : Franok - Jeronimon: 0-4 pts, 12-16 med, 54-56 fig
Replays :
Replay 1
My Germans went for the exit. They cleared the ridge pretty quickly, and lost only one inf in doing that. We had a big shootout in the middle after which we both had gained two medals. 3-5.
Then I escaped An infantry (so the replay does not work after that). But I was missing cards on the exit flank so could exit no more units. I got ahead 7-4 But Franok got three medals in one turn ad made it 7-7. Lucky for me I could barrage a lonely tank for a 8-7 win. A very close match. My victory was helped greatly by a TFH where I activated 6 units and almost cleared the ridge (killing two of the three inf and wounding the third.
Replay 2
Franoks Germans also went for the Exit flank, but my Russians defense themselves very well. In the end on that flank my brave Russians destroyed 4 armor units and I left one armor unit and 2 infantries on the field. Meanwhile I had also started to advance on the HQ flank. And my airplanes had shot down a single German that had fled into the woods.
One of my tanks was destroyed but I retaliated by taking out an infantry and an armor unit for a 7-4 lead. Franok took out the spotter on Hill H with a three for three throw and I killed those pesky men for doing that making it a 8-5 win.
This time my win was largely founded in my left troops refusing to die quickly (still one figure, so lets fight!) Taking out all armor on the flank also prevented any escapes through the exit.
In both games I had the Ambush and played it to great effect.
Capture of Gona :
Aller : Jeronimon (Axis) - Franok (Allies): 6-2 (24-14)
Retour : Jeronimon (Allies) - Franok (Axis) : 6-2 (24-16)
Total : Jeronimon - Franok: 4-0 pts, 12-4 med, 48-30 fig
Replays :
Replay 3
Franok's Australians started to advance with and around the Artillery. So I decided to go up the opposite flank. Firefight cleared my Japanese unit out of the nearest bunker, the following TFH however I ambushed and flagged a unit so I had a one figure unit left where there probably would have been just dead man in the jungle without the ambush. I Countered the TFH and made headway in clearing the flank, my one man unit got killed and I destroyed the infantry that did that for a 4-2 lead. Now I need two more medals form the troops surrounding the artillery. My men went in the centre after a previously wounded unit and took it out meanwhile also advancing on the flank opposite Gona reducing an infantry to one figure. Franok mad a last attempt at getting a medal, but rolled short and one figure was left. That (with the backup of a full Japanese inf) went for the lonely Australian and finished the game with a 6-2 win. 60% on infantry this game, helped by the sniper of course that had a head count of 5/6 (and that 6th one was a flag that pushed an Australian unit to the baseline where it was killed with two flags, yeah sniper!)
Replay 4
My Australians also slowly advanced with and around the Artillery. And The Japanese started to attack in that direction. The first major attack were some Japanese leaving the forward bunker to attack the Jungle. But in tis game also I had the Ambush and reduced the infantry to one fig with a 3/3 rol. I killed it the next turn. Two more units came top the flank but I took the first out with 10 dice and the second with only seven (Which saved a lonely Australian.) Franok then closed in with two units he had brought up from around Gona. They blocked the retreat of a full figured Australian unit and destroyed it. 1-3 the score. I the started in on them and weakened them but lost a unit in the action. Also I now had a Japanese unit in the flank I had cleared earlier being pesky in the jungle. A close assault reduced it to 1 fig and when it tried to go after my 1 fig infantry that killed him instead with an armor assault. (Fury thing North african desert rules are in effect, but no armor to use that rule. What was Jaques thinking? )
Only three Japanese units left on the filed (one of them the sniper and me with nine units and a 5-2 lead. I slowly advanced on th left flank, but Franok had had enough and came forward. I was then lucky enough to take out a full Jap unit with only five dice and the game was ended.
Solid dice and cards for me in this one (watch the replay and see me handle all those tactic cards. )
Total over 4 games:
Franok - Jeronimon: 0-8 pts, 16-28 med, 84-104 fig
Merci pour jouer et j'espère que vous pouvez prendre revanche notre prochaine match.
Je te vois a le Memoir'44 Dutch Open 2020!

Result for Delta division 1st round :
Kerch Peninsula :
Game 1 : Cpl_Uhl (allies) - DDB73 (axis) : 8-6 (32-23)
Game 2 : Cpl_Uhl (axis) - DDB73 (allies) : 8-3 (28-30)
Total : Cpl_Uhl - DDB73 : 16-9 (60-53) 4-0 points
Game 1: High hit ratio on both sides favoring the Russians. At the point where the Germans grouped to make a final assault, the Russian airforce saved the day.
Game 2: Russian and German left flanks were under pressure. Russians reached the objective but had no cover, so in the end they needed to give it up. Germans escaped a combat engineer with a BEL. The other medals were scored in gunnery and tank duels.
Capture of Gona :
Game 1 : Cpl_Uhl (axis) - DDB73 (allies) : 6-4 (25-23)
Game 2 : Cpl_Uhl (allies) - DDB73 (axis) : 1-6 (9-28)
Total : Cpl_Uhl - DDB73 : 7-10 (34-51) 1-3 points
Game 1: Japs took their time to group and set in the attack. Gaining the medals faster than the Tommies.
Game 2: The Tommies need to get shooting lessons (24%), combining this with 2 shots from the sniper at the arti and the way was open for the Japs to go in and kill the units one by one.
Diederik thank you for the games and when your Japanese soldier keep their Seishin Kyoiku spirit, you will do great at the Dutch Open. See you there...

Résultat pour la division Bravo, 2ième journée :
Péninsule de Kerch :
Aller : Junior72 (alliés) - VCX1302 (axe) : 6-8 (30-26)
Retour : Junior72 (axe) - VCX1302 (alliés) : 3-8 (18-33)
Total : Junior72 - VCX1302 : 9-16 (48-59) soit 0-4 en points
Game 1
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 6925691
Junior starts strong and takes a lead up to 2-5. Then my luck changes and I takes 3 medals at once. When I finally destroyed his artillery near the exit, the game turned in my favour. Some unlucky rolls on Juniors behalf gave me the 8-6 victory.
Game 2
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 6926489#replay:turn=4
We started rather slowly until I played a recon right as an air power card … 7 hits! Juniors left flank was reduced to half its strenght. Perfect, because I had 2 assault rights in my hands … Junior tried to shift some units from his center to the treatened left flank. But they turned into more victims …
Sorry Junior, my luck made all the difference.
La prise de Gona :
Aller : VCX1302 (axe) - Junior72 (alliés) : 6-4 (26-21)
Retour : VCX1302 (alliés) - Junior72 (axe) : 6-2 (24-12)
Total : VCX1302 - Junior72 : 12-6 (50-43) soit 4-0 en points
Game 3
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 6926902
I was able to destroy Juniors artillery in the 8th turn, and I held ambush in hands. Great advantage with the Japanese …
Actually, Juniors single fig units survived too many assaults … and he came close to snap the victory from my hands... Lucky enough, I had BEL and was able to win my final medal before Junior would.
Game 4
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 692753
I was able to push my artillery forward to put some pressure on Junoir. He send his troops forward and I took a gamble, playing DFHQ and was able to destroy a unit and damage another. Just in time … Junoir had an infantry assault to do heavy damage … I counter attacked, destroying another unit. I stayed hidden and attacked from "safe" positions. And was very lucky to destroy an enemy unit in almost every turn.
Sorry Junior, lady luck did not favour you tonight. Thanks for the tough games! Better luck in third round!

This was my first time meeting EMI44. I was nervous, because I know he's a strong player.
Battle of Kerch Peninsula
sam1812 (Axis) - EMI44 (Allies) 6-8 / 22-29
Dice 56 vs 69
Against infantry 10/18 (56%) vs 20/43 (47%)
Against armor 12/35 (34%) vs 9/26 (35%)
Against artillery 0/3 (05) vs ---
sam1812 (Allies) - EMI44 (Axis) 8-5 / 35-22
Dice 89 vs 55
Against infantry 9/23 (39%) vs 24/45 (53%)
Against armor 13/32 (41%) vs 11/44 (25%)
Against artillery --- vs ---
sam1812 - EMI44 3-1 / 14-13 / 57-51
Total 57/145 (39%) vs 51/124 (41%)
Game 1
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7332500
The Russians killed three of my Panzers in their first 5 turns, taking a 3-1 lead. Then it went to 402 and 5-3. I then used Close Assault and a 1-1-1 to kill two tanks and an infantry, gaining a temporary 6-5 lead. However, two of my infantries were reduced to single figures. A Russian DHQ rolled onto the HQ medal hex and killed the two weak infantries.
Game 2
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7334029
The early fighting was fierce, with a Barrage, air strikes, and big cards for both sides, but after my 6th turn I found myself with a 5-2 lead. On a Finest Hour with 5 orders, I had abandoned Hill H, but four turns later, the Germans flagged my 1-figure tank back onto the hill -- just after I drew a Recon Center. My air strike killed a 2-fig infantry. On their 12th turn, a German Infantry Assault finished off two tanks and reduced my lead to 6-5. But then, on a DHQ, I eliminated a 3-fig infantry and a faraway 1-fig engineer. This was our only battle with lopsided dice percentages: EMI rolled poorly against armor, while I rolled poorly against infantry -- but I had been able to roll far more dice than he had.
Capture of Gona
EMI44 (Allies) - sam1812 (Axis) 3-6 / 24-24
Dice 46 vs 45
Against infantry 24/46 (52%) vs 22/41 (54%)
Against artillery --- vs 2/4 (50%)
EMI44 (Axis) - sam1812 (Allies) 1-6 / 14-22
Dice 33 vs 56
Against infantry 14/33 (40%) vs 22/56(52%)
Against artillery --- vs ---
sam1812 - EMI44 4-0 / 12-4 / 46-38
Total 46/101 (46%) vs 38/79 (48%)
total sam1812 - EMI44 7-1 / 26-17 / 103-89
103/246 (42%) vs. 89/203 (44%)
Game 3
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7336175
As Japanese, I started the battle my Left, but lost both of my units there. However, thanks to two Infantry Assaults, I was able to bring reinforcements and kill two infantries there. The Brits killed my sniper on their first try, with 1d. Then I attacked the center, and the Brits had poor cards to defend. I killed three infantries in two turns, while EMI scored hits, but no kills. So, for my last turn, my Attack Center ordered three 1-figure IJA. Two of them cut off the artillery's retreat hexes. My first attacker scored a hit, but died in the battle-back. My second attacker rolled a flag that eliminated the artillery's second figure. I was extremely lucky with that last turn, as I could have lost 3 units on my own turn, instead.
Game 4
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7337759
EMI's Japanese advanced on their left flank, and then their right flank. Unlucky dice caused him to roll 0/2 against my 1-fig in the jungle twice in a row, and then he whiffed with a 3d Ambush. On my 8th turn, leading 2-1, I played TFH and rolled 6 orders, including the artillery; that scored 3 kills, making the score 5-1. The Japanese Countered. but weren't in a position to do much damage. However, they took this opportunity to advance their last full-strength unit out of the medal town. Unfortunately for EMI, I was holding Behind Enemy Lines, so I ran into the town for the winning medal. There was a lot of good luck for me and bad luck for him in this battle.
It was a pleasure meeting EMI at last. In three of the four battles the dice percentages were roughly even, but in games 2 and 4 I rolled far more dice than he did. He played four solid games, but the luck was on my side today.

Division Alpha, third round:
Battle of the Kerch Peninsula:
Aller : Darth Ben (Allies) - Jeronimon (Axis) : 3-8 (13-27)
Retour : Darth Ben (Axis) - Jeronimon (Allies) : 8-7 (25-31)
Total : Darth Ben - Jeronimon: 1-3 pts, 11-15 med, 38-58 fig
Replays :
Replay 1
Big German offensive for the exit. All went well: cleared the ridge of pesky infantry and exchanged 1 armor unit for three inf. Then BELled it with an engineer for the exit reducing an armor unit to 1 figure on the way (so after that no replay). Followed up with an armor assault, that scored a 3/3 on the HQ flank. killed some more units to get to 8-3 victory.
Replay 2
Both armies going up their respective right flanks, but my brave Russians having air support that the Germans lacked gave me an early lead. made it up to 5-3 but then got to gready and lost some units. 5-5 Race for the HQ (and stole a card) for a 7-5 score, but my two tanks were destroyed by some wounded units (1 fig armor 2 fig inf) and the last man on the ridge did not see that artillery shell coming. 7-6 for Darth Ben. Killed a lonely infantry and had one die on a tank in the HQ on the baseline but missed. 7-7
Darth Ben then Belled it to the exit for a 8-7 win.
Capture of Gona :
Aller : Jeronimon (Axis) - Darth Ben (Allies): 2-6 (15-25)
Retour : Jeronimon (Allies) - Darth Ben (Axis) : 6-1 (26-11)
Total : Jeronimon - Darth Ben: 3-1 pts, 8-7 med, 41-36 fig
Replays :
Replay 3
Positioning, positioning, positioning, positioning, while the Artillery and sniper did their long distance thing. I then lost my patience and played an inf assaut in the middle and went forward. Got shot to pieces by a Firefight 1 unit dead other wounded. Countered that and got 1 unit in return. Darth Ben countered again and mopped up 2 more units. Could not resist the target on my left and went for it (knowing I had the Ambush and no more left cards, was hoping to get a left card from either normal or Ambush draw). Whiffed on the unit but got him with the Ambush, ambushing unit destroyed by Darth Ben. 4-2 the score in Darth Bens favor. me holding middle cards and an air power, played that got 4/4 but no kills because all full size units. Another unit killed on that flank and me left with the sniper on my right a full fig unit in Gona and two men in my left flank. played one mor ecard in the middle and then saw my 2 left men die for a 6-2 Darth Ben victory.
Replay 4
The Brits advanced slowly on the left and right. I Exchanged 1 British inf for two Japanese ones on my left 2-1 the score, but I need to keep him on that 1 medal for the points. Advanced on my left to lure some Japs that way and then retreated there. In the meantime going for the lonely Jap infantry on my right. Creeping up on it and reducing it to 2 fig. Darth Ben medicaid it to full health and gave my unit three flags and no hits. Moved in anther unit to go for it again and started a small offensive in the middle. The Sniper arrived and took a shot at mi artillery reducing it to 1 fig. Went for the lonely inf on my right again and kept shooting at the middle. Darth Ben having problems defending for lacj=k of centre cards so he played art Bombard and armor assault. Got a turn where I could go for 2 1 fig Jap inf got one, but lonely right guy survived (again ). Lonely right guy shot at me (2 flags again retreating) but got him with one die the next turn. Then went for an infantry in the middle again that was a tough nut to crack, in the end I managed it after 16 dice. And I got my last medal barraging a 2 fig unit on the left flank for a 6-1 victory.
Total over 4 games:
Darth Ben - Jeronimon: 2-6 pts, 18-23 med, 74-99 fig
Merci pour jouer.
J'espère de te vois a l'Open de France!

No I did know that, that is why I was so happy to get to 18 points. That meant I was going through as either first or second.

Result for Delta division 3th round :
Kerch Peninsula :
Mr. Funny won in these extreme games and do the reporting. Still happy to grab 1 point with a lot of luck.
Capture of Gona :
Game 1 : Cpl_Uhl (axis) - Mr. Funny (allies) : 2-6 (21-28)
Game 2 : Cpl_Uhl (allies) - Mr. Funny (axis) : 6-1 (24-14)
Total : Cpl_Uhl - Mr. Funny: 8-7 (45-42) 3-1 points
Game 1: Allies started to group in the center. Japs had cards spread on all flanks so took the sniper to shoot and hope for better cards. The allies tried to get in range of two (I saw the Inf. assault comming from miles). My troops were with their backs again the base line, so I tried to flank on my right. Mr. Funny didn't came for funny things this time and the inf. assault was followed by an all (and some good shooting) ended all my hope.
Game 2: If I want to have some of a change to advance, I need to give max 1 medal away. So this set the strategy. I had 2 counters, the general advance and the ambush (let it come). I tried a few dice on the sniper but no luck, then the Japs advanced over my right flank. I had it figured out..ambush and a probe should give me the first medal. So I ambushed.. 0 hits, The Japanes inf had 3 dice and hit 3, steve did his best no hit. Ooh no not again. So I did throw in the general advance to bring my single inf in cover and hit the jap with all I got. Just made it. Then a lot of fancy manouvring and I tried to stay in cover out of the charge range and let the artillery do its job. Mr. Funny had other ideas and charged through the center. Then I played all my big cards (Inf assault, counter, close assault) the dice didn't help but I was Lucky enough not to loose a 2nd unit.
Axis 56% vs Allies 39%
Mr. Funny thank you for the games. Cu and the family in April.

Dart Ben - Photios points 4-4 medals medals 21-21 103-95
103/229 (45%) vs. 95/224 (42%)
total tie with overall same number of orders and a slightly lower hit rate for me. Ben had all the luck in Game 1, when he even eliminated Russian artiullery with 2/3 in 2 turns. He had 4 crippled units at my disposal but I would need 1-2 more turns to eliminate them, and due to my artillery blown away so easily, I simply didn't have that.
After that, luck changed or, better say, Ben's lack of chance in crucial hits. In Game 2 he needed 2 inf figures with 4d, but only got 1/4 and missed 4th medal to get a 3-1 victory.
In Game 4 he couldn't eliminate a single Jap in 2 consecutive turns (0/6), which allowed me time to get the 4th medal and again evade a 3-1 loss. So he was close to a 6-2 victory (one figure short in Games 2 & 4), but whiffed. However overall he had a better hit rate. He managed to conceal his crippled units well (8 vs 5 mine in the 4 battles), which shows that dice were not favorable for me either, especially during Games 1 and 4.
Battle of Kerch Peninsula

So eventually I qualified with 16p.
Good luck Ben in next tournament, you deserved better!

This was my first time meeting Junior72. I knew that he is a strong player, and I've enjoyed his well designed scenarios. I had a 3-point advantage coming into this round, so I "just" needed to win one match, but it wouldn't be easy.
Battle of Kerch Peninsula
sam1812 (Axis) - Junior72 (Allies) 5-8 / 21-26
Dice 62-62
Against infantry 9/36 (25%%) vs 12/22 (55%%)
Against armor 12/26 (46%) vs 14/40 (35%)
Against artillery --- vs ---
sam1812 (Allies) - Junior72 (Axis) 8-5 / 34-26
Dice 72-72
Against infantry 23/40 (57%) vs 16/42 (38%)
Against armor 11/32 (34%) vs 10/29 (34%)
Against artillery --- vs ---
sam1812 - Junior72 ... 2-2 points / 13-13 / 55-52
Total 55/134 (41%) vs 52/134 (39%)
Game 1
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7688796
An early Russian air strike on their right scored double hits against two of my sandbag infantries, and double-flagged the third. A few turns later, when two Russian tanks began to advance there, I retreated the two weakened infantries (now 1 figure each) into the woods, while my Panzer came out to try and defend. However, a Russian Assault Right obliterated my Panzer and one of the infantries, while also double-hitting another infantry. Soon after, a Russian Infantry Assault on that flank added two more kills against my defenseless flank. They led, 5-2. I finally managed to get another Panzer over to my left, and finished off three weakened units over a span of two turns. I followed with a Firefight, which rolled 12 dice, but only 1 hit. I couldn't prevent the Russians from taking the HQ and eliminating my Panzer. Allies gained 5 kills and the objective on their right flank.
Game 2
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7689597
My Russians began with a Recon air strike on my left, scoring 4 hits. The Germans played 5 consecutive Center cards, which gave them two kills against units on my left. They followed that with Air Power, which dinged two of my tanks -- but I was lucky enough to be holding a Counter-Attack. The previous targets on my left hadn't moved, so I attacked four 2-figure units, killing two Panzers and an engineer, and reducing another Panzer to a single figure. Suddenly, I had gone from a bad position to a 4-2 lead. A couple of turns later, a 2-fig Panzer killed my leftmost tank, and threatened to exit, my artillery was lucky enough to eliminate it. I now led, 6-4, with DHQ under the chip and a chance to win the match. On the DHQ, my armor eliminated a 3-fig infantry in the sandbags, while my SF infantry scored two hits against the German engineer adjacent to the artillery. But the Germans responded with a TFH, and one of their two orders eliminated my 1-fig engineer in the center After that, though, my Artillery Bombard went for the 2-fig engineer, and scored two hits.
5-8, 8-5. Tied match. I scored a couple of extra hits, but they don't count in this tournament. (And notably, in this tournament, all six of my Kerch battles were won by the Russians.) In order to advance, I would need to win one game, or Junior would need to win both.
Capture of Gona
Junior72 (Axis) - sam1812 (Allies) 0-6 / 8-20
Dice 13 vs 30
Against infantry 8/13 (62%) vs 20/30 (67%)
Against artillery --- vs ---
Junior72 (Allies) - sam1812 (Axis) 5-6 / 26-25
Dice 71 vs 53
Against infantry 26/71 (37%) vs 23/46 (50%)
Against artillery --- vs 2/7 (2/7%)
sam1812 - Junior72 ... 4-0 points / 12-5 / 45-34
Total 45/83 (54%) vs 34/84 (40%)
GRAND TOTAL: sam1812 - Junior72 ... 6-2 points / 25-18 medals / 100-86 figures
100/217 (46%) vs. 86/218 (39%)
Game 3
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7690709
This battle was simply unfair. His Japanese came out aggressively, and I hardly missed in defending against them. I Ambush-killed a 2-figure infantry on Axis's second turn, and then killed four more units with DHQ (which was my second one), a Close Assault, and a 1-1-1. On their fifth turn, the Japanese played BEL, occupying the bunker adjacent to Gona. But the medal hex behind it was vacant, and I had just drawn a lucky Counter-Attack, so I took the objective. The dice were very lopsided. I was hitting with almost everything, and half of my misses were "extra" dice against units I killed. In his 5 turns, Junior was able to roll only 13 dice, and 8 of them came on one turn.
This win clinched my advancement to the next round.
Game 4
https://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44-online/en/battle/?id=7 7691132
We traded kills over our first 10 turns, leading to a score of 4-4 after my 10th turn, except that Junior's Brits had also killed my sniper early, on an Infantry Assault, and I Countered a Barrage to kill the already-damaged British artillery. On their 13th turn, when they were leading 5-4, the Brits fatefully rolled 0/5 against my full-strength IJA on their far right. I rolled 2 hits against a 3-fig infantry in the jungle, and advanced my other remaining unit to the Gona bunker. Next turn, the Brits rolled 3/5 against that IJA on their right, but left him standing, and they rolled a hit against my unit in the bunker. I played Move Out, finishing off the unit on the British right, and charging out to reduce an infantry in the center jungle to 1 figure. Two British units attacked my 1-fig IJA on their right, but fatefully again, they rolled 0/4 against it. That should have been a winning attack, but instead it was 3/14 against that stubborn IJA in a span of 3 turns. I Close Assaulted, and finished off the 1-fig in the center. An unexpected and lucky win, due to horrifically unlucky British dice at the moments when they needed hits.
It was a pleasure to meet Junior72, after seeing his name for so long. I was lucky at the right times, and he was unlucky at inopportune times, but he was a good sport about it, and I know that on a different day, he would have delivered the same damage to me. I hope to meet him again in this tournament next year.

I confirm the results.
Congratulations to Sam1812, a very great player.
The match was very fun (except the game where i played the japanese in this strange game)
It was nice to meet Sam1812 for the first time in a M44 tournament.
Good luck, Sam and VGX in the end of this difficult tournament !
