Small World of Warcraft: game play questions Wed, 09 September 2020 12:59
Never played small world before. So I have a question in regards to the WOW edition.
Can someone explain the champion token? There was some confusion as to when it can be used/ reused and how it can move about the game?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Small World!! We're so glad you've discovered this amazing game.

To answer your question, you'll get to use the Champion Token any time during your turn to make one conquest free (only using the Champion) for a neighboring region. So it could be an early conquest to take over that super fortified mountain region, or it could be your very last conquest to snag that last region you want.

At the start of your next turn, you'll be able to do the same thing and use it again.

I hope this helps!

Thank you! So how do you get the champion token back in your hand at your next turn? Do you just replace it with Your regular race token?

How? Simply by putting it into your hand and placing it back on the board on the region you want to conquer! Razz
The previous region is then empty, so if you want to keep that region, you have to conquer it again normally during that turn.

kholdstare is correct, here's what the rules say:

Quote:

This Race controls 1 mighty Champion. Once a turn, it may conquer any adjacent Region for free, regardless of the number of enemy tokens and defenses in it. Once conquered, place the Champion token in this Region. The Champion counts as 1 Race token for defense. If another player conquers the Region with the Champion, it is taken prisoner. No defending Race token is discarded. The owner of the Champion must immediately pay their opponent a 1 Victory Coin ransom and retrieve it. They then redeploy it like a regular Race token and will be able to use it again on their next turn.

So if you conquer a region with the Champion and then leave the Champion token alone in a region when you redeploy your tokens, and your opponent doesn't attack the Champion to let you redeploy it, you'll have to lose control of that region. But there's an easy fix for this happening!

When your conquest phase is over, you get to redeploy your extra tokens around the board. If you place at least one of your tokens with the Champion, on your next turn you'll be able to take the Champion back into your hand and leave the other token to control the region for you!

Have fun!!

Hi,

I am a new player of the whole Small world as well, but I have specific question about the Small World of Warcraft.

It is about the Seas and Lake Regions. Obviously it can be conquered by Nagas. However, is it possible to enter these kind of regions with other Races like Gnomes and their Airbone assault abilities? (The small icons show a lake that is under attack on the Race Banner). Or is it possible to use the Ashes of Al'ar Artifact to conquer a Sea / Lake as it said that ANY Region can be conquered.

Or the Seas and Lakes are only for Nagas because they are the only race that can live under the water in that game?

Thank you for your help in advence. Smile

No, you need to be explicitly allowed to conquer a lake or sea region to do that. If you aren't, you can only conquer regions you can normally conquer. What the word "any" changes is that you can now conquer non-adjacent regions, that's all.

So the Gnome race banner has a missprint? As it clearly shows a Sea/Lake region under attack.

Not necessarily because if the Gnomes are Seafaring, they will be able to conquer lakes and sea regions, not depicting it would also be confusing IMO.
