Memoir at 2023 World Boardgaming Championships Tue, 31 January 2023 20:59
.
The Memoir tournament at this summer's 2023 World Boardgaming Championships will be held Thursday-Friday, July 27-28.

WBC will again be held at Seven Springs Resort, near Pittsburgh, PA, USA. (Details at https://www.boardgamers.org/wbcindex.html .)

The tournament will follow our usual schedule: Single elimination, with a Mulligan round the night before. Mulligan is 8pm Thursday evening, which follows an 7pm teaching demo. Main tournament all day Friday, beginning at 9am. If you lose in the Mulligan, you can re-enter with a clean slate in round 1 on Friday morning.

We’ve got an exciting batch of scenarios for this year’s tournament, encompassing battles from Russia, Normandy, Pacific Islands, and the Ardennes.

Mulligan & Round 1 – Velikaya Bridgehead

Round 2 – Capturing the Crossing

Round 3 – Capture of Parry

Round 4 – The Meat Grinder

Round 5 – Battle of Celles (Winter Combat cards)

Round 6 – Resistance at Marvie (Breakthrough, with Winter Combat cards)

There will be a demonstration and teaching session before the Mulligan round. In addition, special rules for each scenarios will be explained at the beginning of the round, and help sheets will be available.

If you bring just a base game, we'll supply what you need to play every scenario. (But if you have Eastern Front, it'll be helpful to bring it for Round 1, and Pacific Theater will be helpful for Rounds 3-4.)

This is the largest face-to-face Memoir tournament in North America, and the winner earns the right to compete in the online Champions Trophy tournament.

Plus 5 Overlords

Overlords: In addition, we will have 5 Overlord games -- Thursday afternoon, Friday late-night, and Saturday morning-afternoon-evening.

• Thursday 2 PM – Prokhorovka Overlord
• Friday 11 PM – Stalingrad: Perdition (with Combat cards)
• Saturday 10 AM – Cape Torokina Landings
• Saturday 2 PM – Twin Battles of Warnach & Bigonville
• Saturday 7 PM – Bastogne

Up-to-date information will be posted on this thread and also at https://www.daysofwonder.com/en/event/details/?id=1854

WBC features tournaments for more than 100 different games, such as Battle Cry, C&C Napoleonics, C&C Ancients, and C&C: Medieval. The full convention will be July 22-July 30.

Also ... tournaments for DoW games Ticket to Ride, Small World, Five Tribes, and Pirate's Cove.

I've added the scenarios to the initial post in this thread. It's a great assortment.

The Finals will be a Breakthrough scenario, and we'll use Combat cards in the last two rounds.
