Eleven Swords to Win? Wed, 04 January 2006 06:04
I just played a six-player game of SoC. We accomplished every quest except for the quest for Lancelot's armor and the Black Knight quest. We only got a mix of eleven swords (white and black). No one played any of the 'up the quest's sword output by one' cards. It was only possible to get eleven swords on table. There was no traitor and we had more white swords on the table than black. Did we win? We got as many swords as was possible to get, without playing one of those cards.

The games ends immediately when there are either

a) 12 Siege Engines at Camelot
b) 7 or more black Swords on the Table
c) all loyal Knights are dead

or it ends immediately after the first action in which
the 12th Sword is placed on the table

Since you have failed to fulfill any of these criteria the game hasn't ended.
You MUST continue to play the game until one the above conditions has happened!

Note that three of the Quests are perpetual - which means that they never stop.
You must continue to fight ther Black Knight, the Picts and the Saxons. They will keep comming back until one of the end game conditions are in effect.

Three quests are perpetual? How does that work? I thought that if you placed the five cards on the Saxons or the Picts that those quests were complete. Likewise, I thought that when the last Black Knight card was placed that quest was complete.

I'm a doofus. I just saw in the Book of Quests about perpetual quests. Thank you very much for pointing me in that direction. Thanks again.

You're welcome!

Also remember that each black card for a quest that has ended will add a Siege Engine to the board. It can become pretty nasty at the gate of Camelot...!
