No, it's actually only the beginning.
Though I realize it may not look that way, from your perspective
As we have mentionned in other places, we are hard at work on Memoir Online right now. Though not ready to announce a timetable or release date yet, we will let everyone know as soon as we get closer to shipping.
As for nothing having happened for the past 18 months online, that is actually far from the case. There was T2R Europe going live, then the release of T2R PC with the Swiss map. And there is more coming later.
best,
eric

Thank you for the remarkably fast response. I'll look forward to Memoir 44, hopefully by the end of the year. Given the games that are currently available online, I think Memoir is an excellent choice for #5.

I guess wasn't expecting anything new online, in that Days of Wonder didn't really have any more games that would lend themselves to online play. Could you imagine the headache of trying to play Mystery of the Abbey online? Or trying to type out ARRRGGGG all the time in trying to play Pirate's Cove. But Memoir 44! Wow, what a great surprise! I'm looking forward to it.
I actually wondering if there are future plans for getting Cleopatra and the SOA online after Memoir? It seems like it has similar play mechanics to that of Ticket to Ride, which is a great online game.
But for the present, I wish we could get more people to jump over and play Queen's Necklace. It's a great game online, but I've only played it a few times, and I'm yet to play with someone who speaks English. I just know those French guys I play with are insulting me somehow

Not that I know any more than anyone else, but the impression I have gotten from Memoir 44 online (including the fact that Eric used the term "online") is that it will be an online game, not just a PC game. However, Eric once alluded to the fact that it would be "shipping" which tells me it could very well be a PC game also (or he slipped because he is used to new games being ready to be shipped and he didn't really mean that).
However, a good chunk of the M44 group plays online with VASSAL. And DOW has expressed that they would like to make a system better than that designed just for M44. So whehter we have to buy a PC version, or download a free version, I would expect nothing less than either including Online play capabilities.

I think it is just a matter of learning the game. I have always been interested in playing the other online games but I own none of them so I haven't taken the time to figure out the games. And there are more pressing games on my priority list that I would like to purchase. But I am always open to new games.

Just to be clear:
The initial release of Memoir Online will be Online (ie not as a PC game). We will post additional details when the time comes.
