Epic and Reserves Tue, 19 August 2008 01:05
i really don't understand why there are no reserves in epic, for purposes of vantage point and goblin marauders.

i mean for reluctant allies, it specifically states there are no reserves, but this is not the case in a normal epic game. i can understand why forced enlistment cannot be used, but why not vantage point and goblin marauders?

Well, maybe the reason is...because there are reserves in Epic.

Read section page 7 - it tells you how to deploy reserves.

I believe the reason for no reserves in RA is due to limited number of figures in the base game. If one wanted to use the reserves in spite of that limitation (or if one had more than one base game), I'm sure it could be done. Otherwise Vantage Point, Marauders, etc. could certainly be used anyway, just adjusting them accordingly (instead of "reserves" just replace, move, place, etc. units on the backline).

"Secondly, I only play in Epic mode. therefore, the cards "Forced enrollment" and "Vintage point" are useless and are removed from the game."

i got this from http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/330485 in bgg. what does he mean by vantage point being useless?

also, there's a specialist card playing aid in bgg, and it lists that vantage point and goblin marauders (and forced enlistment) are not to be used in epic.

If you read a couple of posts down, I ask the same thing Very Happy I think Tom was referring to RA (as you are) where there are no reserves. As ColtsFan pointed out, in the "regular" version of Epic, there are reserves, and therefore those cards should still be valid.

What playing aid are you referring to, if I may ask ? Sure hate to have one that might have incorrect info. If possible, include the link.

Thanks

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/file/info/29490

this one, it says that vantage point, forced enlistment, goblin band and goblin marauders are not allowed in epic and/or reluctant allies variants

Grr, I have no idea why I said there weren't for use in Epic. I know in Relucant Allies there are no reserves. But why I would I say those 2 cards couldn't be used for Epic. Perhaps I had ment to say RA only and somehow put Epic in as well ?!? Any thoughts (this was back in Jan - I know the date at the bottom of the doc shows 2007 but it was 2008)

If there are no other errors, I'll correct the document on Monday and reupload it.

Any one know of any other errors ??

ahh, glad to see it was just an error (and not on my part too!Very Happy)

so in epic, the only card that CANT be used (out of those 4) is forced enlistment, correct? and in reluctant allies, none of those 4 cards can be used.
