RIP Java? Wed, 08 March 2017 23:28
As of this afternoon I am unable to get in. According to Mozilla they are no longer supporting Java plug-in. Tried Opera to no avail. Is this the inevitable end?

Windows 10, but up to this point have had no problems. Java demanded its update, and when i updated it, that's when it shut me out. I checked Mozilla's site and they indicated with their new update they no longer support Java.

I tried uninstalling java and then reinstalling, still nothing.

This is the message I am getting:

Java Plug-in is not supported by this browser, followed by a link to java......

Windows 8 and the latest update for Mozilla is not supporting Java either. I'm not having it on Mozilla on Linux either (though I'm dead sure I could install if I took the pain...)
I managed to run Java without any further configuration on IE with Win 8. Didn't try other browsers but Chrome basically fails.

I got the same problem here since Mozilla update.
I found this link:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/
Update for professional but only supported until 2018.
Internet explorer still working fine.
TTR on Java is definetly dying... Sad
edit : I didn't try safari...

Thanks Oleg and Gilles. Smile For some reason after the last time this happened with Chrome, etc., I thought IE didn't work any more either. So I hadn't even been trying it. It's working on one of my computers; will check the others later.

What did you do to make it work, Ross ?

Have been trying for an hour and a half now but I get nothing on Chrome, Firefox, IE or Opera.

OK, seems that Edge is not IE, found IE in Microsoft Applications.

Re Connection.
My connection dropped yesterday 15 March.
I have also picked up that Firefox , Chrome and Edge have ceased supporting Java due to security issues. Firefox dropped this week.
I have a 24/7 tech team to help me with such issues and we struggled for a whole day.
I then sent a message to 12 of you guys and some of you came back so quickly with what you knew.
You are all stars but Goupil you shine the brightest.
Try explorer I was told not Edge.
We did that after countless removals of Firefox, chrome and Java and what do you know.
I am back on.
So any further issues try explorer but also know you have a community of geeks out there with character and brains.
Thanks guys Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

If you are running Fire Fox Build 52. It has limited plugin support, they have cut Java off of that build. So possible fix is to try and install a previous fire fox build.

REAL question may be, how do we make the lobby in Steam a better place for us to connect?

Honestly, that is the biggest problem that I find with steam. The lobby stinks!
I am learning to look at what players played by clicking on their icon after their play. A pain, but workable.

otherwise my java is down to using internet explorer

Re:Firefox - no Java? Mon, 20 March 2017 16:43
if you make someone a buddy through steam, you get a message (in steam as long as you are connected to it) that your buddy is playing now in steam. The problem is that steam will tell you when your buddy is playing any other game, not only T2R.

the only solution is to "add buddies" via either DoW site or steam itself (just a click on your potential buddy's name if hey are logged in). Then in your buddy list you see with green click all buddies currently in lobby and with brown the ones that are playing. However you can't see what they're playing. So we need to create game titles that state clearly the tournament or our name.

Steam has also shift+tab that opens a chat window; this might be a nice way to communicate. we could try it with any volunteer, because I haven't use it much. TIC benny knows how to use this feature. I think in there discussion is more private than the lobby.

Re:Firefox - no Java? Sat, 13 May 2017 18:12
I can't get T2R to work via Java on IE. Have tried it on two different PCs, both running Windows 7. Latest version of Java, made sure that IE security setting for Java is set to "enable", etc.

I can do everything on here via Java (visit the forums, see my games history, etc) EXCEPT play an actual game. Clicking on "play" gets me a Java box which is blank.

Anybody got any tips I haven't tried yet?

To those who still have problems with java: why don't you try the downloadable version of TTR? You can find it in your profile -> download center (available version for PC, Mac and linux)... The interface is quite the same as java and it works fine!

Re:Firefox - no Java? Fri, 07 July 2017 23:03
I finally got the Java version to run, on an old borrowed PC running an old version of Firefox. Played a couple of games there as an experiment.

The Java version is more informative in revealing the opponent's last play. However that Java interface is terribad! Steam's layout is far better, makes certain pieces of running information more clear than in Java, etc.

Also I hate hate hate having to drag and drop in order to select cards/tickets. Much prefer simple clicks.

It would be great if DoW would make the Steam version always show each opponent's last play, and perhaps improve the lobby listings a bit as well. Then let the Java version finish dying off.

Then let the Java version finish dying off.

Hello

The Windows version of Ticket to Ride is having problem to log in to our new infrastructure since the maintenance we performed earlier today (Tuesday Jan 9th).

An hot-fix on the Windows version of Ticket to Ride is under way, but it is going to take some time to validate the build through Quality Assurance in urgent mode.

If we're lucky we'll have it today Tuesday - worst case on Wednesday.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Thanks,
Yann

well if java is dead so am I

each time I use steam 2/3 times a game my tics disappear and I cant do anything but pick from the deck. if I try to take a tic the game just sticks until I time out and lose

no point in migrating to steam if it doesn't work

IE on java still ok for me (for now...)
