If you've got 5 or 6 command cards TFH is a killer, but I do love BEL Twisted Evil

I think that Behind Enemy Lines is the most amazing card... it combines massive movement and a poweful attack into one card. For my #2 pick, I would have to venture that General Advance is great, assuming you have at least 2 units in each section. It allows you to move 6 units in one turn all across the battlefield. Your opponent will be hard pressed to launch an effective counter-offensive in each section.

Unless of course your opponent plays a Counter-Attack in which case that usually trumps the Best Card you just played.

Not sure how many times I've been burned by that!

I'd say none of the initial list.

Direct from HQ (any 4 units of choice) is awesome.
General advance (2 units per section) is also awesome.

Behind Enemy lines is potent AT THE RIGHT TIMES; the rest of the time it's marginal.

I've been burned by bad rolls on TFH... but it's not bad.

Airstrike is pretty weak, actually. It CAN NOT eliminate full strength units except artillery... and it requires the targets be a contiguous block...

Barrage is not terribly great, either.

We talk about this all the time. Having the right card at the right time is key. Or better stated, knowing when to play the card in your hand at the right time is key.

All of the cards listed above are great but have also backfired. Barrage is a particularly nasty card if you save it for the end. A weak unit hides in the back expecting to be safe from enemy units and all of a sudden, the sky is falling and the game is over. BEL gives the same, A HA! feeling when your opponent is hedgin his bets and sees that you can't possibly reach that objective medal this turn... but you do.

But my favorite has to be having the Ambush. It can be such a game turner when someone thinks they have the easy medal and you blow up their plans. And to a lesser note, Counterattack gives me the same feeling when they think they have this huge chance and you just mimic it. It's even better when they play a section card that you can counterattack and you end up activating more units then they could!

Naturally a Counter-Attack is always the best card to have in hands...powerfull and lethal!
Infact, I think it must not be right to let this card counter-attacking also TFH card!

I LOVE FIREFIGHT CARD!

General advance is good in any case, as a useful card. The most powerful is counter-attack in my mind. The one i prefer is BEL, but i hate it in some scenario (some wherre you get a medal for any unit that exit the board. In that case, is like startiong the game 1-0 before the beginning).

My worst card: their finest hour Evil or Very Mad

I'm an unlucky guys, so just guess how many time i played it and get nothing on the dice...

I usually keep it in my hands, to avoid my ennemy getting it. I use it only when i need to play in one section and i don't have any cards to play there. In that almost only case i play TFH.

PS: it's really my nightmare card. That's why i really enjoy Kippryon scenario: you don't shuffle after TFH Very Happy

I like Infantry Assault as well. Lots of movement in one sector!

Cheers,
Allard.

I LOVE FIREFIGHT CARD!

One of the best games I played was against my girlfriend. We pulled THF 3 times in this game and a counterattack was used once. I only had 1 opportunity to use THF while i was spanked with it thrice. The session report is over on the Geek: http://www.boardgamgeek.com/thread/128524

My favourite card is the last one I played to spectacular game-winning effect! Airpower or barrage to kill off isolated weak units is fun. Behind Enemy Lines to pull of that devestating pre-emptive strike is just plain devilish. And a carefully prepared Assault that sends over half your army forward in a single turn is a real delight.

But if I had to pick one and just one card that I most enjoy playing, it'd have to be Armoured Assault. With good timing and a dash of luck this is a card that can bring more than 30 dice of attacks crashing in from out of nowhere in a single turn. It just doesn't get any better in M44! Wink

Counter-Attack has to be the most potent card in the deck, for the simple reason that it gives you the ability to play any/all of the other cards mentioned... which are all good cards, to be sure.

The only thing better than a Counter-Attack card... is TWO Counter-Attack cards!!! Laughing

My favorite card is barrage, because if you must get a medal that are in a city where are a enemy unit shoot the Barrage and you have on 4 dice one dead and one white flag..... and conquest your medal.... go to the victory.
I don't think TFH is the best for me is a card that depend by your luck.
Another good card for one mission is behind enemy lines, whith one unit you ignore everything and can pass the senario. Vincent.

If you use the barrage on a city with an enemy unit and victory medal, you do not obtain the medal for the town if the unit is eliminated or retreats. On your next turn, you may move one of your units in to capture the medal but you don't get it the same turn you barrage the town.

(If that is not what you are saying, I am sorry that I misundrstood!)

Interesting question however it is very dependant on the scenario being played . An " Armor Assault " card can be devestating ... but not on 'Pegasus Bridge' . So to view all cards and their respectable use I would have to vote for a card that could be applied to any scenario , and the ones that pop into mind right away are " Direct From HQ " . There is a LOT of flexibility in the chance to order ANY four units as they can be used within any scenario at just about any time .

I think you've got a good point there Lee Miester. If the 'best card in the game' is looked at as the single card that is most useful in the greatest variety of situations- ie. the most flexible card- then Direct From HQ would have to be it. If we're looking at the single most powerful card- the one with 'most bang for its buck' if you will- then I'd have to maintain that Armour Assault hits harder more often than any other.

I was able to put this into practice again last night: Armour Assault- 32 dice; Counter-Attack; Counter-Attack... I win! Very Happy Oh, and Direct From HQ came in handy too later on. Wink

AH... but you did use a Counter-Attack in there too, no? Hypothetically, your opponent got the same 32-dice when he Counter-Attacked, so he could be potentialy as destructive as you were... until you played your Counter-Attack for another attack of 32-dice! (Again, hypothetically)

I still say Counter-Attack is the most versatile and powerful card in the game.
