Days of Wonder announces Small World Design Contest
Winner to be published in mini-expansion and earn free trip to Essen Spiel '09!
Los Altos, CA; Paris, France - June 3, 2009. Today, Days of Wonder announced the Small World Design Contest in which aspiring game designers can create and submit their own custom additions to the new hit board game, Small World. Central to the game are the fantasy-inspired character races paired with special powers enabling them to conquer the Small World board maps. To inspire creativity, each copy of Small World includes a blank Race banner and Special Power token that players can use to create their own races and powers.
That creative inspiration can now be put to good use by aspiring Masters of the Universe: Small World fans worldwide are encouraged to submit their best Race and/or Special Power designs in the hopes of winning the Grand Prize: A round-trip train or airfare; accommodations; and €200 in cash to spend at Essen Spiel '09 in Germany, the world's biggest board game fair. The winner will also join the ranks of published authors, as Days of Wonder will release a mini-game expansion at Essen, featuring the winning entry; and will receive 24 copies of the expansion to take home and impress their friends and family.
The Small World Design Contest begins June 3 and runs through the end of July. All entries must be submitted on an official entry form and postmarked by July 31. Small World author Philippe Keyaerts, and judges from Days of Wonder, will review the entries and select the winner, who will be informed in early September and announced publicly on October 12th. Contest rules and entry form are available from the Days of Wonder website at www.daysofwonder.com/smallworld/contest/
