Europe says "byeee dizz" Thu, 05 March 2009 16:59
Hi my friends,

it was very reluctantly that I took dizzy Anne to the airport this morning (and yes, she DID take her phone this time) - I wish she could have stayed, if not indefinitely, at least a few more weeks. But when we had our final hug at the gate, our parting was not as tearful as the both of us (and some other folks in a very windy city) had feared. We were both brave, but I have to admit that when I wandered back to my car alone I did shed a couple of silent tears. It is truly amazing how fond I have grown of this wonderful woman in only a few days and I also know how truly excited and happy she was to meet a lot of you nice people, either in person or by phone/skype. So I thought that it would be a nice surprise for her when she gets home (sometime very early tomorrow morning around 3 or 4 am our time) to find this little thread.

Dearest Anne:

Thank you for doing this!
Thank you for staying with me for a while, it was sheer pleasure to have you (or should I say "it was phANNEtastic!!!)
I hope you know that my house is your house whenever you want/need it (even though you do blow a fuse every now and then Wink). No seriously, you DO know that, don't you?
Thank you for being so easy going, for sharing a lot of things with me, and for not trying to convert me even once Laughing

I will miss your brilliant smile.
I will miss your exuberant laugh.
I will even miss the times you/me cried ...
I will simply miss YOU!

I hope you have had a wonderful reunion with your family, they must be overjoyed to have you back after 2 (for them) long weeks. I sure know that I would be.

Take care of yourself, be as happy as you deserve to be and know that you have made a lot of new friends here ... you certainly enriched my life!

Dear Anne,

Thank you for your sweet smile and I hope you have had a very pleasant stay in Europe. And of course I hope you will have a safe and nice returning home. I think you need to be courageus to make a trip like this through Europe. Next time I will take pictures (of you, Louis, Sven and myself) and next time the box of "hagelslag" en "choco-vlokken" will not have been already opened.

Your friend,

Goan

Dear Anne,

it was just gorgeous to meet you "life" - thank you for coming all the way to party with us. I do hope your trip back home was all safe and that you enjoyed visiting Europe as much as we enjoyed having you with us.

I hope there will be another time when we can meet. Smile

Big hug,
Martin

Hey my dearest Anni Smile

It was really really nice to meet you at the TTR-Meeting. I d never expected that someone will come such a long way from America to Germany, just to meet some "online-friends" of an simple online game. I hope you enjoyed your stay, including meeting all of us, and you had nice way back home.
Hope to see you once again, maybe in Gottenheim, in Dortmund, in Amsterdam, somewhere in the west of the big sea Wink or just somewhere else.

Big hug,
Yours Svenni

There once was a girl called Dizz
One that we would surely go to miss

She came over sea with a flying machine
straight into the heart of the ttr scene

The brave girl made a journey of many a mile
and touched all people with her beautiful smile

Then came the time she had to leave us again
with joy and a smile we will remember you ... Anne

Hey Anne,

It was great meeting you at Martin's place. I am sure you had a very good time during the rest of your stay and it is really a pity I could not make it to the Dutch farewell dinner! I hope you had a safe trip home. Hope to speak to you soon again!

Hug, Patrick

Actually Anne is nothing special. All of us americans are cute, cuddly and well-mannered. Very Happy

Nevertheless, we will be happy to have dizz back, and thanks for appreciating her, you undeserving europeans.

Hey Dizzy,

as my previous speakers already said, it was great to meet you and thanks for the fed cup games Wink

I really wish you can do it again next year! Or maybe not, cause on the pics you look so much better than me! Confused Laughing

I hope you enjoyed your time in europe and I'm pretty sure, we will meet again!

Kisses

<sigh> You guys are too much. However is a girl supposed to be happy to be home after spending such pleasant days with such wonderful people?? You don't make this easy, do you?

Moni, Moni, Moni, my sometimes roommate Wink. You know the entire trip would hardly have been possible for me without you, big sis. Thanks for putting up with the blown fuse, the left phone, the forgotten book, my nerdy friends on your skype acct, the tears and my comings and goings at all hours Wink. Is the place still standing? A hug for Stephan and love to Angelica for the lovely schnitzel and potato salad. Kiss the Iowan for me - that bag he lugged up and down the stairs was way too heavy. And of course I will still try to convert you. Everyone knows the EU map is WAY MORE challenging than USA. Wink

Too many wonderful people at Gottenheim to spend enough time with, to be sure. It all went so fast and I still only slept about 6 hours during the weekend. Shocked

Martin, Andrea, Simon and Mario were the most tirelessly gracious hosts ever. I kept looking for cracks in the veneer, a loss of patience somewhere, but no. Always happy and smiling and thrilled to have their home invaded by about 35 "train freaks". And such great and plentiful food. I'm quite sure I shall never have such lovely panacotta ever again (will you send the recipe, please??). Thank you SO MUCH for opening your home to all of us and making me feel so welcome in Gottenheim.

Great to meet the Catalunyan contingent, as well, though it was much too brief. Thanks for making the trip Pere, Jordi, Fabi and Josep. Mudda who came from Essen to seemingly prevent me from sleeping and gamely played Werewolf while hating it but would not let me drive his well parked car. Razz Manfred who is my rocky solid friend no matter what - thanks for the use of the scarf. Man, Manni, was it cold! Rudi for singing "Dizzy" to me and not hating me for offing a fellow werewolf in the big double bluff that didn't end up working, thanks to Klaus and Patrick Evil or Very Mad. Regardless, I fell in love with Doni and wanted to stick him in my pocket and bring him home with me. Patrick, I really, REALLY tried and while I like Sonja WAY MORE than you, OF COURSE I remember our deal. Post it quick before the tourney fills up! Wink Lady Nay and her chivalrous knight, Pete for letting me become her "tech queen" and for surviving CSI: Gottenheim Wink. My golden boy Svenni-so nice to see you in person finally, even if you were disappointingly non-frunken Wink. Ladykiller Youki for your ever charming presence and the sweatshirt. If I had not returned it and put it up for bid amongst the ladies, I could've likely funded my 2 1/2 days in Paris Very Happy. So nice to meet Tina and hope I will see her sometime here for a game. Eva, who is the best Werewolf moderator ever and always pleasant to be with. Wonderful Mietzie and beautiful Franzi, who I spent not enough time with. Beate and Karin, if only I had better German - kiss, kiss, ladies. Sebbo and Wolf and Horst, such a pleasure, but again wishing I had had more time. Quiet killer Hecki - thanks for the multis. Your photographic work was amazing to see, as well. Roger and beautiful Bea - thanks for the tags, RR, even though I was the worst partner ever. From Vienna, lovable Wolf and queen Dea - thx for the invite to visit your beautiful city-maybe one day. Pleasant breakfast conversations with Jac and Bas and especially for Feli for thinking I was really 30 years old and taking my picture - kiss, kiss, lovely, intelligent, book-loving girl Smile. What a great family - will definitely hope to visit in Bargen and hope to see you on my doorstep one day, as well.

The fun did not end for me in Freiburg, however. Got to have dinner, good ttr conversation and no less than 10 tasty turkish appetizers with Louis and Sven (Truck) in lovely Amsterdam and with a last minute detour involving chasing and even missing some trains, lovely, lovely Goan tried to give me every bit of chocolate he had in his house along with a HUGE bottle of very still water. What a happy, late night party that was! Too bad my camera's batteries were dead. Crying or Very Sad

And after some sightseeing in the Netherlands, Belgium and Paris, respect and appreciation for Moni, Dom and Georg for meeting my train in Köln for an extremely wind blown but lovely lunch and drinks. Can you say "stick it in your ear", drac? Oh, and did I yet mention the Streichholzschächtelchen?? Razz

Is that everybody?? Thanks to all for letting a frumpy but evil American invade your happy European party. Was such a lovely treat for me, really and you were all so kind and welcoming and patient with my non-German. Love and kisses to all!

-dizz/Anne
P.S. Is there somewhere where we can share all our pics?
