D.I.S. On The Track! Wed, 04 May 2005 13:25
Good people, allow me to introduce myself...

My name is De Ideale Schoonzoon Peter de Zeeuw, also known as D.I.S. (which is a Dutch abbreviation and stands for The Ideal Son-In-Law, or, Ideal Son-Outlaw, as I sometimes like to put it). I've been around since March 1998 but it is recently that I started my superior reign on Ticket To Ride.

Now, let me get straight to the point... I'm going to slap your bottoms silly and teach you one of the greatest lessons in life... YOU CAN'T BEAT ME!
If there is anyone who truly deserves to be at that number 1 position of the established list, it is me!
You see, I was born and raised in the ghetto in the South of Rotterdam, Holland. And I know what it is to fight. I know how it is to fight for a decent spot in the tube when you have to go to work early each morning at 9 o'clock. I know what it's like when you come out of work and someone just snatched the last fresh bread at the local baker and you have to eat those indigestible crackers again the next day. I know what it is when you come home in the evening with those crappy crackers and the first thing you see is a pile of clothes you still have to iron... Boy, is my life tough.

But I'm not a complainer! I'm a fighter! And I won't quit until I've reached my goal! To be the number 1 of Ticket To Ride!

And that's why I challenge each and every one of you for matches if you dare! It doesn't matter to me if you want a One on One Match or a Hardcore Match (2 players), a Triple Threat Match (3 players), a Battle Royal (4 players) or a Royal Rumble (5 players). It really doesn't matter. I've seen you people play. You people ride your trains like you would ride your tricycles. It's pathetic.

Of course I can ramble on a bit longer, because I have much more great stories to tell about myself. But I understand that women appreciate a man that's a little mysterious, so ladies... see you soon in a One on One Match.
Awww yeah... Wink

Keep on rolling while you can. Just remember... your train is going to stop soon...

Peter de Zeeuw (a.k.a. D.I.S.)

Rek18, I want a Hardcore Match against you!
I was hoping I would hear from you... Twisted Evil

Léachris, laugh while you're ahead. I won't last that long anymore...
And as far as yesterday concerns; I had something in my eye at a critical moment. That's why I lost. I placed my trains on the wrong track.
So consider yourself lucky.

Ciao,

I love this guy. Pass the crack pipe, Peter. I watched 2 of your games today, as I couldn't get in in time. Keep drawing tickets, that will get you far against the best people. Ha! You've played 500 games and now you realize your invincible. Somehow it hasn't shown up in your rank. Back to the drawing board, or take another hit, I'm guessing the latter, your crack induced hallucinations, is the only way you'll see the top of the ranks.

Hi thekid,

Laughing

Not that I'm 'all that' or anything, or even doubting what Peter is smoking, but how about getting LA-NY on the last draw to win by 2, like you did to me the other night? Rolling Eyes

Most times you're good, but sometimes you're just lucky I guess. Mad

But seriously, you do have a point... Petey sounds like a ticket fiend, draws 10 tickets a game and hopes for the best. Those are the worst games to lose, but that's the luck element, however small it is.

Peter, you are a funny guy and I know what you write is tongue-in-cheek, but if you really want to win consistently and move up you will have to adopt new tactics.

hey lea,

The only people in my games that get ridiculed are the ones that complain about being blocked or curse me in german. Then they are free game and get what they deserve. "No Miami for U!" Just like you who whined and complained, then left our first game. Wahhhhhhhhh. By the way I don't drink beer or smoke, it's scotch for me.

As for drawing tickets I do it as rarely as I do keep 3 tickets. The only times I draw is when I think I am losing, but I am smart enough to connect to connectable cities first. A very important tactic that is often overlooked and sometimes considered luck, as the draw will come on usually the last turn of the game.

Don't lie please !

I observed some of your games : you don't often wait for reactions to humiliate your opponent.

I complained, ok, I was a beginner in that game and didn't consider blocking as a real tactic ( that I use now when it's necessary )

We are more than 4000 players here, many are beginners, some are only not very good. But what do you think ? That you can ridicule people just because they are not in the top 50 ?

I'm sure you take more pleasure in a game when you can laugh at the other player than in a game with good tickets....

You have no right to ridicule people, no way !!

p.s. : that was not miami but a nice (I can say it now) blocking of 6 whites between calgary and winnipeg ....

Lea, lea, lea,

Actually, recently I have been playing most of the top ranked players as it has become boring mopping the board with random people who show up. This has made the game quite fun as there have been some real challenging and interesting games. I have nothing to say to people who don't speak, I don't care who they are and don't speak to them unless spoken too, so you are wrong when you say I humiliate people for no reason. When the people say how dare you take my route or WTF! or call me an archslog or something like that, I let loose on them just as I did too you. And you ran. Wahhhhhhhhhhh. Don't block me. Wahhhhhh. If you get blocked don't blame me, blame your own stupidity.

By the way the scotch will help the 4 growing boys when they get older. This way they can torment you too well into the future. Haaaaaaaaaaa!

You know what? This forum is getting good. So, feeling a little mischievious, I have some questions of my own for all of ya.

For "Zugbegleiterin": So, I know "Zugbegleiterin" is in German...but what does it mean? ...looks like something about trains? And why the switch of avatars? It looks like you went back and forth on that before you settled on the new one. I thought the first one was very creative, by the way.
*

For "thekid": Good luck, I'm pulling for you in all this. It looks as though Rek18 will make for some loud competition for you. Its Frazier/Ali all over again!
*

For "thekid" and "rek18": So what is the latest with Bum-Bum and "Achim2004"? (or whatever his name is...) So who IS the rightful champ on this forum? I miss the smack talk from you two... "Watch out Achim2004, you're next." I LOVED that. Now that was funny. Who would have thought you could get that type of excellent color commentary on a games forum. I am just surprised they are still listed 1 and 2 on the scores and ranks list. And I am really surprised you are both taking that lying down for the moment. Confused
*

For "Brice": Why ARE those two still on top of the rankings list?
*

For "Léachris": You may not be quite as good as the top players in the gaming department... but for the verbal barbs and zings department, you are tops in my book. I know I would try to stay out of your line of fire.. that's for sure. Very funny smackdown of "thekid". Of course, he gives as good as he gets; so it is particularly fun to watch the two of you verbal heavyweights go at it. Smile
*

Finally, For "Peter de Zeeuw": Nothing cracks me up more than just showing up on the scene all of the sudden and running that line of smack! Major kudos from me! That was great entertainment and will keep me coming back for more.
*

This is like the Ticket to Ride version of the OC. Awesome stuff gang. You are making this a very entertaining tournament to follow!

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the support. Figured it was gonna be thekid party of one, which actually gives me more incentive. We'll see if we get there. The one person I did not want to play beforehand was El Soy. His ranking is artificially low as he has not played many games and he has watched tons of mine. So he is better than his rank.

As for Bum-Bum and Achim, they are 2 seperate stories I think. We know how Bum-Bum did it but not sure about Achim. The only time I saw Achim online was one game and he kept 3 tickets that could not be completed with 45 trains and still won big. That was told me for sure.

Funny thing is Bum-Bum is now playing some real games. I have played him 3 times. The first game, I expected someone who couldn't play because only a true loser would do what he has done. In that game he had 3 good tickets LA-miami and SF - Atlanta and LA-Chicago I think. I had Winn-LR and Sault. Ste-Nashville. I had s many chances to block but just didn't, I don't know why and wound up losing by 2. Game 2 was the worst game, by far, that I have ever played here and didn't complete either ticket. Usually I map out my route after getting the tickets but this time for some reason I was focused on one way which wasn't the best. And when he took a route that interfered with it I just never recovered. In a word I played awful. Game 3 was all me as I had 2 good tickets and blew him out by over 30. Watching the way he played, I thought he would be around a top 10 player if he didn't cheat, which makes it strange that he feels he had too. He is not the best, I would feel comfortable playing him anytime. Rek is one player, I am not comfortable playing. It is like playing myself. We think a lot alike and our record is close, 8-6 me. In summation, we know they are frauds and let the DOW guys or the people here deal with them.

Hi Ryan35,
Somebody in the chat tried "course compagnion" with google translation, Rolling Eyes
but it's "train attendant (female)".

Actually, both avatars have the same high level of creativity. The first photo therefore was published as a press photo of German Federal Railway. In the beginning, the sign was red. After they got calls from upset customers insulting them, we changed the color to green.
http://img207.echo.cx/img207/7266/avatar19nv.jpg

Now a book was written about me. The second avatar went to the cover. (It's only the avatar barbarians of DoW shrinked it to the size of cockroach ordure. Edit: they corrected a little bit, thank you Smile)
http://www.lichtschwertverlag.de/Bilder/Buecher/zugbegleiterin/Cover.jpg
Order this book here

Now why did I change it. It looked too official. People who thought I'm staff pm'd me with questions and complaints.

Next time we'll have an opinion poll here. You can choose between Zugbegleiterin Barbie
and this one, showing my hard working day (me in last row).

Hi Zug,

Interesting! The cover says it's a thriller. What part do you play in it? Are you a main character or supporting cast? What is the book about? Unfortunately it's in German so I won't be able to read it. Are you a train attendant in real life then?

Eric, thanks for the game last night. Maybe you can create a new position at DOW, TTR Guru. The person would have to be creative, brilliant and modest, nah scratch modest. Guess who I think should fill it? You could have meet thekid at your conventions and trot me out there like they do Barney for the little kids.

One question does Alan Moon ever play here, I know he posts on Board Game Geek but have never seen him here.

Lea, you'be got a couple of years before you need to worry. The 4 year old helps me place the trains, but he is learning from the master, so in 3 years my money would be on him.

The other guys are 1, but their learning curve should be even quicker as they'll have 2 people whomping them. Survival of the fittest at my house.

I don't understand 'the latter sorts itself out.' I don't read German so I won't be able to read the book. I was just wondering what role you play in the book. Cool

I just always assumed the nick (once I found out what it meant) was because the game has to do with trains. Razz

Wow! Well, I'm home from work now. So I have time to write. And lots to write about! Great stuff! Ya all keep this up, and I am putting you all on my buddies list!

For "Zugbegleiterin": Congrats on scoring the first modeling assignment on the website (LOL) And the first published book! And the first direct link to a Swiss website! I didn't even know Mattel had "Zugbegleiterin Barbie" as part of their lineup of products this year! So by all means run with the opinion poll and let us know how it all turns out!
*

For "thekid": Ya got smoked pretty good with the "And stop scotch, it's not a beverage for kids..." comment by Léachris yesterday. Tell her in your best commercial voice: "Scotch. It's not just for kids anymore..." That'll show her. Very Happy Of course, in the end analysis, you just might have to settle this in the train ring... she of the 21 consecutive wins after all.

I was going to suggest you taking on that "just a lowly" player, yesterday. But it looks like you beat me to the punch. Who won that game, I wonder? Ringer. (LOL) Rolling Eyes

*

For "Brice": I don't even KNOW German. So that is no fun for me. Cool So if you are on vacation, what are you doin here? Back to vacation for you. (And I hope it is a good one!)
*

For "Léachris": You are fast becoming a favorite. Such passion!

So where am I, you say? Well, I have trouble just winning the regular boardgame version of this with my friends...much less playing you pros. So I am ranked 3,251 out of 3,250. So that is where I am.

*

You guys are all a very fun group. You all should make it a point to have a tournament, just for the incisive wit that is displayed here.
