he can launch the game via an operating system that is on a usb stick. he boots the machine on the usb stick rather than the regular hard disk drive then launches the game. hence he does not use as he says his "main machine" and "caries the game around" on a usb stick. there are versions of linux that fit in a usb stick no problem.

= usb game !

OK so now we can play at work Smile
Can you explain the exact steps to do this?

Wow there, I kinda forgot to answer, sorry about that.

Can I tell the exact steps, unfortunately no I can't. I'm not computers savvy enough (just enough to understand what D-S-M said).

What I CAN tell you though, is if you indeed want to play this at work you might want to be careful (and perhaps you may not be able to anyway) as you will have to enter the BIOS of your machine, which in a firm is probably password protected anyway.

I invite anyone who is competent enough to produce a step by step tutorial.

In the meantime I guess I can try my best :

1 - download ubuntu 10.4 (D-S-M tells us that's what he uses)
2 - somehow install the files downloaded on a usb stick
3 - download the linux version of the game
4 - copy somehow the game on the same usb stick
5 - reboot computer, access the bios, change the boot settings to have the computer start on the usb stick rather than the hard drive (it will then run the Operating System, in that case ubuntu 10.4, that is present on the stick rather than, for example, my version of windows on my hard drive)
6 - install the game
7 - set up the internet access within ubuntu (no idea how. I don't know any linux system)
8 - Play the game.
9 - after shutting down the computer, boot again and change back the boot sequence in the bios to boot on the hard drive again ! (important if you use a computer at your firm that other people use)

As for the boot sequence, you actually set a priority in the order of peripherals the computer will access to find an operating system. This means that if the usb stick is not plugged into the machine, the pc will scan the next peripheral in the list (CD drive, hard disk drive 1, etc.) until it finds one and launches it.

These steps are full of holes as it is of course, but it gives you a (brigadier) general idea of the process, and perhaps for some it will discourage you as it is a tad complicated if you're not a tech person (or a linux user for that matter)
