So an optimal Russian BEL will only net 4 medals. I can live with that

I test the scenario and it seems than the pioneer rule is not working (ability to attack and suppress barbels in the same round). Not so bad for Germans
Could someone else confirm that ?

I think you have to attack first and then the wire is removed although I am not sure of how (if the wire goes automatically after attacking or these is a prompt).

You attack first and then the cutters are still there to cut the wire. (Or not if it does not work )

The Battle rages on. We now slog into 1944. Our first challenge is in early March with 'Hube's Pocket, Breakout'. This battle plays out from left to right, unlike a normal scenario which plays from top to bottom. You'll see yourself very quickly orienting your plan of attack with this in mind. Also, please disregard the briefing note about the follow up scenario, 'Hube's Pocket, Completing the Breakout'. We will not be playing that scenario in this tournament.
Since the Axis won by 3, Sam will let me know where to place the infantry unit. He will also let Helcat know who his 2 point player will be and then Helcat will set the matchups.
Hopefully, you'll enjoy this scenario, and most of all, have fun.

For "Hube's Pocket, Breakout," Axis will take a Special Forces infantry on the third hex from the left (i.e., the frozen river hex to the right of the forest on the baseline.
Our 2-point player will be Vercingetorix.
Good luck to all, and let's all have fun!

Ok Allies,
This will have to be our comeback match if we would like to stay in the competition. As a general I will have to risk my relatively bad play and put myself under pressure as 2 pt player. Therefore here are the line-ups:
Tank Commander * - Artimon
Gonzalan - clorofila
JAParker * - Dugrim
van Voort * - sam1812
Hellcat 2pt - LooneyLlama
gheintze * - Vercingetorix1302 2pt
Jaykay2010 * - Jeronimon
lucky91 * - JJs Juggernaut
Good Luck to all, and may the dice be with us.

Fellow Commanders,
Just a heads up for everyone. There is only one battle left to play in our Hube's Pocket scenario. Get ready for our last battle in 1944, the 'Valley of Death'. Impassable mountains that impede movement and artillery fire is a new terrain feature in this scenario. You will be able to 'hide' units behind these mountains to avoid ranged attack. Be sure to try it out first before playing your match. If there are any bugs, please let me know. I don't anticipate any. Have fun.
Helcat will pick his 2 point player and Sam will set the lineups. As of now, no special advantage has been earned.

My suggestion would be if they can't find a time to play then they get a substitute to fill in or we just move on to the next round. It's no big deal. We are here to enjoy the games. By tomorrow, I will post our next scenario. Sam, please make the lineups. Gonzalan is their 2 point player.

As you've undoubtedly seen on the Results thread, Vercingetorix defeated gheintze in the last game of round 7, giving Axis a 3-point victory and an extra infantry. I have seen the scenario, and decided that we'll take a Special Forces infantry on the left.
By my count, the tournament score is now 36-27, with three rounds to go.
Helcat has already announced that the Russian 2-point player will be Gonzalan. The German 2-point player will be JJ's Juggernaut.
Round 8 Pairings - Valley of Death
sam1812 vs van Voort
Artimon vs Gonzalan (2-point)
clorofila vs Helcat
Dugrim vs lucky91
Jeronimon vs gheintze
JJs Juggernaut (2-point) vs Jaykay2010
LooneyLlama vs Tank Commander
Vercingetorix1302 vs JAParker
Good luck to all, and let's all have more fun!

Fellow Commanders,
'Valley of Death', our 10th scenario is now online for you to try. This is not the final tournament revision scenario. Since they had a 3 poiont victory margin, the Axis will be placing an infantry unit later today. Check it out and enjoy.

For those of us who count in base 10, this will be the 8th scenario.
For computer guys and others who count in base 8, it will be round 10. See instructions at http://youtu.be/UIKGV2cTgqA

Sam and Eric,
Too funny guys!! But either way you add it up, we, the ALLIES, are still behind, no matter the round!!!
Now would be the perfect time for a sweep, 8-0, and move us that much closer, but would settle for three 6-3 sweeps, 45-45 tie to end it and then have the 2 SAC's battle it out in the end in a 2 match scenario to the determine the final winner! I will wake up now and hope for the best and enjoy the fun!!
Of course, always the Pacific Front, according to Eric, to settle the matter!
And Sam, I can relate to the "new math", grandkids use it, but my wife is another story altogether!! She is "old school"!

UPDATE,

Hi Allied Commanders,
I have posted 2 scenarios(Festung Posen and The Last Hollow 'Victory') online that could be used for our 9th round match. I have asked Helcat to decide which one he would like to use. You can help him decide. Both scenarios favor the Allies, and notice that Gung Ho rules are used in both. Do you want to attack or defend? It's your decision. Thanks.

Considering that our offensives have been downright offensive (at least to our side) perhaps we should switch to the defense

Everyone,
1944 is in the history books. A resounding victory for the Axis to end the year. We now move on to our final 2 battles. I am going to put online The Last Hollow 'Victory' for you to try out. This does not mean that we have to play it. Helcat will let me know his decision. I can also make available Festung Posen, if necessary, before his decision. I can only have online one scenario at a time.
Sam will let Erik know who the Axis 2 point player will be and Erik will then set the matchups. Sam will also let me know where to place the Axis added unit.
By the way, I was somewhat surprised that there were not more Allied victories last round. When I played it with Sam, he initially thought the Allies were heavily favored. It might have been a little bad luck that there were not other victories. The final 2 scenarios favor the Allies, though with an added unit I'm not sure by how much. Good luck!
