Rek wanted series with thekid, Rek gets THEKID Fri, 27 May 2005 06:16
Lets write this synopsis of the series as a children's book:

See Rek

See thekid

See Rek and thekid play TtR

Meet Mr. Broom

Watch thekid use Mr. Broom to sweeeeeeeeep Rek outta here.

See Rek call thekid lucky.

See thekid change Rek's name to magically delicious, cause he's my lucky charm baby.

4 - 0 baby, booooyah.

I can't wait for the next tournament.

I followed script in the first movie, young upstart wins.

But remember in the second movie, the empire strikes back.

And the emperor is angry.

And calling me lucky is classy?

7 in a row and 10 of the last 11.

Methinks there are other forces at work here.

I'm in your head.

Hmmm. TheKid spices up his feud with Rek. I'll be following this with interest... Smile

Too bad you guys don't play open matches. I would love to watch some time.

Take care,

Bedtime Story... Fri, 27 May 2005 13:53
(Too bad you retracted your comment, because...)

Rek can be a bit grumpy when you try to mess with him. I won't get into our turbulent recent past again, because it might get ugly again and there's no need to it now. But still I have this feeling Rek is turning around. He replies to my postings again (sure, as long as it's self-mockery) and he was even willing to play a match against me yesterday. Oh! And he signed me up for the 2nd Tournament! Yay! Very Happy

I guess you can't expect miracles. Rek is evil. And I like it. You can't be friends with everyone. It would simply kill the healthy rivalry around here. Maybe Rek will change one day. But it will take time. Baby-steps are needed.

TheKid probably realized that when he created this topic. But Rek, don't be mad at TheKid for it. Being the father of four little kids he probably reads a lot of books no longer than 5 or 6 pages as thick as your finger, including sweet-looking animal figures. He did his best to make his point. Come on, sport! Let's communicate on his level!

TheKid (as the Gingerbread Baby):
"I am the Gingerbread Baby
fresh from the pan
If you want me
catch me if you can!"

Rek (as the Goat):
"Thumpity, thumpity what do we feel?
That Gingerbread Baby would make a good meal
(Clippity clop, clippity clop)
- with wood blocks."

Peter (as the Fox):
"Smack, smack, I'm licking my chops
I'm a fox and I'm fast
I'll catch you at last!
Grrrrrr."

(I feel so stupid right now Neutral )

Creating a thread to gloat about winning = classless. I admit I was very frustrated by the cards I got in 3 of those four games. thekid did get lucky and he knows it.

Rek, lucky please. The game I had Denver-Pittsburgh I was lucky but it was unlucky for you in the game you had it. The only difference is I stuffed you and you couldn't make it. I took the routes you needed in every game and confused you in every game. You looked utterly lost.

I have never called anyone lucky. When I have lost, I took my beatings like a man. Did I say El Soy was lucky in beating me, no I said he played great and got beat down from everyone.

I think it's time you take up war so you can yell aaaagh you got all 4 aces. Or the 2 other classics, aaaggghhh not another chute or noooooo I'm stuck in molasses swamp by Gloppy.

You could start your own whiner/sour grapes fan club.

Did I beat you down? Did El Soy start a thread and rip you immaturely? Bottom line: you are a great player, but you haven't got much class. It's a shame, it'd be nice to have the #1 player be someone people could respect.

When I lose to someone like pilke (or almost anyone else) I don't feel the need to be defensive; but I know with you (or Peter, not that it is probable) I won't hear the end of it. Fact is, you did clearly have better tickets in 3 of the 4 games, plain and simple. Most people would have some humility about that, but not you, your ego can't even allow you to entertain the possibility.

Remember the time when you were disconnected from a game and insisted you should get the win because there was no way I could have beat you! Rolling Eyes Classy!

The grapes are definitely sour, but the root cause is the victor's lack of grace.

I have played pilke many times, I think we are about even in wins, not sure she might know. I am very gracious in defeat as is she. I think she is the nicest person playing here.

Now if she whined and called me lucky, I would rip her here just like I do you because you show no respect. You think you should win every game and if you don't, it must be the other person got lucky.

You just can't face the truth.

And the truth is I own you.

You're the size of an insignificant gnat.

With SKM getting all over Wernerus and his 55-6 record against a top 100, what's he going to think when he sees 10 of 11, which is the same pace as Wernerus and you're top 10. I'll have to start throwing some games to you to keep his suspicion away.

You don't see me creating posts about beating other people because they're not whiny babies who call me lucky.

Maybe you should visit a jealousy website.

Diagnosic Criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

Let's count!

Quote:

1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance

Uh, yeah... that's one.
Quote:

2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Tough to call, but I'm gonna say yes on this one too.
Quote:

3) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

Maybe, let's say no.
Quote:

4) requires excessive admiration

Check! That's three.
Quote:

5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

Like demanding (and almost stealing!) a win after you dropped. Four.

6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

I guess we'd have to ask people closer to you to know. Let's give you the benefit of the doubt on this one.

7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

Oui oui oui! C'est cinq!

Uhuh. Six!!
Quote:

9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

And how!!!

7/9... we have a winner!

Hey rek look the only other person who agrees with you is another baby who blocks my posts. She's like a baby who covers her eyes and ears and goes ahhhhhhhhhh so they can't hear or see you. Then she posts responses ripping me, peas in a pod u2 are.

I thought I would be president of the baby club with my four but you win it with the size of your babyness.

Funny you didn't comment on any of my points, cause you know they are right.

You can't stand that I am better than you and try to downplay it by calling me lucky.

You're jealous and I love that it drives you crazy.

I didn't see any points. But if you really want a response...

1) Leachris...
I really don't know or care much about the spat the two of you have. She and I don't see eye-to-eye on everything (e.g. we disagreed about the idea of having a non-open tournament) this isn't the case of a fan club. She seems to be enjoying watching me tear down your high and mighty attitude... who can blame her.

2) Fan clubs...
I'll take Leachris on my side any day over Warner13, the guy who doesn't actually play, but has opinions about everything.

3) Respect and luck...
I've been the first to acknowledge your strength as a player on many occasions. Whenever I've said you were lucky its been a) because you were, and b) because I know you don't see it and you'll run off and gloat (and yes, that does bother me). You've had a great run against me recently and I'd say that 10/11 is pretty significant. Congrats. At the same time you've had a lot of luck over that stretch, so don't get too cocky (wooops, too late!). You don't address that point, you won't even consider it. If we played 11 more I'm sure the result would be quite different. I'm game any time if you want to prove me wrong. Or am I just an insignificant gnat and you'd rather go play some 1200-1400 players.

4) You are 100 pts ahead of me so I'm an insignificant gnat...
Nice, you've just insulted just about every player. IF you are a better player the margin is very narrow. There are a lot of factors at work in the rankings. You pick and choose who you play and when you play very carefully. I don't see you continuing to take on players who "have your number" and you play a hell of a lot against unknowns. You bitch and cry like a little baby when one of them beats you... they are somehow cheating you by deliberately losing to lower their ranking and then playing hard to beat you (delusions compatible with the diagnosis).

Anyway, I know from our past run-in that you are as inflexible and non-introspective as they come. I'm wasting my time on you.

So here, I'll give you what you so desperately need:

I bow to your greatness: you are a true champion in the mould of Ty Cobb, Mike Tyson, Barry Bonds and Kobe Bryant.

Take care, and please, give those four a better toolset than you got.

Laughing, your last two PMs were:

Quote:

whatever.

and

Quote:

(yawn)

Both consecutively with no reply from me in between. You are surprised you got on my ignore list? You demonstrated no interest in rational discussion. I'm glad you at least came up with a good effort this time!

You are still an enigma, why do you take sides on issues when you aren't really involved in the community? Your idea of a contribution is asking the question of what other hobbies those people who play online have. I'm more than happy to be judged by my contributions to the forums and the T2R online community. I'm sure I've ruffled some feathers, but with few exceptions I stand by what I've said.

Let's see, who've I blasted?

Caboose, who opposed the idea of limiting ranks with no basis at all. He even referred to supposed studies then wouldn't give references to them... He made them up! That's grotesque! Gwen got mixed up with it... she's very nice, I hope I never insulted her.

Warner13, you insult the people who participate here with your obnoxious question. Oh, you were just doing market research... right. Perhaps if the "market" is your own weak ego that needs to feel superior to other people. Maybe I misread you... I guess only you know that. Based on your reactions and how you've acted in other situations I'm not inclined to think so. The best example of this is the fact that you had no hesitation to jump in beside thekid on this thread. I guess it was an example of something ''positive and uplifting'' that you wanted to put your support behind... (bip)ing hypocrite! Do read your own posts before submitting them? What delicious irony: someone who speaks for the "unified voice of the forum" questioning the humility of another. And then we get the ultimate cry of the rhetorically challenged: "you think you are always right!" or "you are never wrong." Surely sometimes I am, but never on purpose and never without at least trying to give an argument.

Peter, I feel bad about that one. The guy is clearly just having fun and doesn't take himself seriously either. That's cool. He could start fewer threads and choose better company (but if he wants to get all wet-assed with thekid that's none of my business Wink )

Random anti-blockers who get insulting, they deserve every bit of it, IMO.

Cheaters like Achim2004 and Bum-Bum... no need to justify. I was one of the people asking for answers, but I did not make blunt accusations that went beyond the evidence.

The guy who came on and cited Kant and Hobbs (sic), yeah, ok, I have a mean streak. Embarassed But come on, tell me that post didn't irk you too! Smile

I pontificate... no, I participate! I play the game and I have opinions about it... it is something I enjoy. When I disagree with something I call it out and give good arguments. If I get drivel in return (as you are prone to offer) I call that out too.

Anyway, the sparring has been fun, but it is getting a bit tedious. I try to have fun in the forums and write stuff that people might want to read. I'm sure everyone but the most macabre rubberneckers have stopped reading this repugnant thread (yes, I mean YOU dear reader, isn't there a Jerry Springer episode on TV or something?). I do tend to enjoy beating dead horses, but this is too much. I'm embarrassed of my part in it.

I guess I'll sit back, away from the battlements, and await my comeuppance from the "unified voice of the forum" that despises me... (fantastic imagery, I'll give you that!)

And on it goes...

Warner13 wrote on Mon, 30 May 2005 05:25

Rek,
Indeed my comments... and from P.M. no less! And I will do you the service of not posting your responses. Or even comment to how you worded them to me.

I do notice that you break yet another one of your own "rules" by posting P.M. ... when you skewered Peter for doing the exact same to you.

I suppose if you do it is OK... but if it is done to you then it is a grave foul?

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have revealed your confidential deep, innermost thoughts to the whole world. It is serious insincerity to compare this with what Peter did. But I understand, you are grasping...

(Random aside: Why does your diction vary so much from post to post?)

Quote:

As for my intent. You don't know my intent. I love how you feel you can get into my mind and determine "my" intent. Is that not arrogant? And you're the only who tried to judge that matter... so who, really, Rek... is the one who likes to stir things up? Is it not you, Rek? Can you truly say that it isn't? I repeat: You DON'T know my intent.

After you put me on your last post, you knew I had a response by P.M.... but you blocked it, in my opinion, because you WANTED this to come out on the forum. Because this is your "center stage" to argue. I stayed out of your scrape with thekid, after you pretty much asked me to on P.M.... but here I am, after the fact, appearing in one of your posts. So how does that work, Rek? Why are we supposed to follow the rules scrupulously, but if it is convienent for you, then it is fair and OK to break them?

Now who is presuming to know the others' intent? I put you on the ignore list as soon as you PM'ed with the second empty message. By the way, I wasn't the only one who read your question as insulting. You never really gave anyone an alternative way to interpret it. Market research??? Rolling Eyes
Quote:

But I'll tell you what's not going to happen. I'm not going to give you your little self-vindicating war on the forum by insulting your person with name calling.

Right, you've got the high ground here. Got it.

Quote:

But I would certainly opinion for everyone to read my posts... and please call me out and quote any specific wrong I have directly leveled against anyone in anger, other than Rek. If you find it... and then I will take responsibility for it.

And I most certainly will take responsibility for it.

I'm sure the "unified voice of the forum" has nothing better to do than arbitrate our little battle. Anyway, I have already called out a wrong: you belittled everyone who plays the online game. Whatever your intent, you did that. Did you take responsibility for it? No. Will you? No.
Quote:

By the way, since the shoe is on the other foot and now Optimus is the side commentator while I am center circle... your comment was nothing less than amusing. Razz See, it is fun to watch from the sidelines! Very Happy

Optimus is an active member in the community. I respect his opinion. His post was a witty reply that showed that he got the joke, I'm not sure what you are trying to make of it... (???)
Quote:

PS: Point by Point:

1. Rek, it is not WHAT you say most of the time...it is how you always say it.

That makes me feel better. Your problem is you don't like my style! That's cool, the feeling is mutual.

2. My point is that "unified voice of the forum", NOT me, will eventually speak... therefore, by logic, I cannot represent the "unified voice of the forum". So indeed, lets do see what happens.

But you presume to have a read on the unified voice of the forum. Do you hear it's voice in your head? Anyway, yes, let's see what happens with your bizarre prophesy.

3. "cry of the rhetorically challenged":

To everyone: please go through my posts and see if there are not examples where I have said "I'm wrong" or "I concede the point" when put in an untenable position. Now do the same for Rek. Rek, please don't "update" your old comments... simply let people have full access to them and decide in their own minds.

Not fair! You have the advantage of having taken more untenable positions! Smile

Maybe there is someone with nothing better to do than audit our histories to settle your vendetta. You seem to have the attitude that this is a popularity contest.

4. Also, Rek... I do not try myself to be "positive and uplifting" all of the time... I'm going to have my amusements too. But it is certainly not my overall mantra. Can you say the same? But please feel free to quote one of my forum posts where I have directly attacked someone's opinion or point of view in anger and then directly attacked the person as well. Can you say the same?

I can say I feel a rush of excitement each time I get a fresh batch of crap to reply to, but I'm not responding in anger. I've never brushed someone off with a "whatever" or a cheesy smiley. We seems to see things differently. To me a stiff argument is a sign of respect, to you it is an insult. Let me guess: you don't like blocking either. Smile

5. Finally, you gave a comprehensive defense for your treatment of others in a negative light... so please do show us your other side?

I've given this defense elsewhere (in the thread on the feature for limiting joining games by rating). No need to get into details again, but briefly: I share my ideas and strategies openly, I've organized a tournament and a second is in process. I think if you will find many people who consider me a friend here.

6. There is no collusion on the part of myself or "thekid". We have not exchanged even so much as one comment about you between us.... P.M. or otherwise. He stands his ground. I stand mine. Separately.

So Peter, myself, and thekid are part of no club....despite anything you muster to prove your own JFK conspiracy theory. All your statement does for me is it seeks to draw attention away from the fact that you are arguing with three people separately. Think about that, Rek.

I'm arguing with three people who have a common opponent. You and Peter had nothing to do with thekid's repugnant thread, you jumped in because you had a vendetta. You should have thought more carefully about it, because you aligned yourself with someone who is blatantly in the wrong. This thread is the most disgraceful thing ever seen on the DoW forums.

Do you see any more value in talking here? I think we've reached an uneasy equilibrium. I'm sorry I drew you back into the discussion, it wasn't my intention and it was a mistake.

Warner13 60 posts and no game!
What do you hope to find here?

So Rek, i think he found you...
and doesn't has anything else to do than to give his opinion (in which we give a s...) in every so good thread!

I think the homepage you advised thekid is even more appropriate for him.

p.s. vielleicht sitzt er ja schon in der klappsmühle?

Me, Blatantly wrong. Is it not blatantly wrong of you to call me lucky in an open chat room where all the waiting players are. You are such a hypocrite it's funny. It wasn't the first time you've done it, I gave you a pass the first time.

But you went and did it again. This after calling me out in an open forum saying I needed to be taken down a peg.

You don't see me posting about beating anyone else like that because they treat me with respect. The only people I get on are the ones who curse me for blocking them.

As for playing people, I play everybody. I'm not high and mighty like you and refuse to play lower ranked people. You're a snob. I never played any of the top ranked people when I started here and would have loved to. I think it's nice that I give the people their shot to beat me. I like knowing I'm always getting teir best game. The one thing I don't do is accept callouts from really low ranked people. If they get there first when I open a game fine I play them, but I would spend everytime setting up games for these people.

As for your conspiracy theory, today I lost to someone ranked 3400, a ticket fiend, it happens. The person I lost to a few days ago ranked 3800 played like a top ranked player. You know what the differences are and so do I.

Also the other day I played Rode Katers, he or she beat me playing an excellent game. Did I call them lucky? No, I said well done.

You reap what you sow. And you got what you deserve. Now shut up.

You started your gloating long before I said anything. You could win at bingo and think it genius.

Gee thanks, such a gracious megalomaniac!

Now why would I say that? Could it be because you run around kissing your own ass all the time? You are so high on yourself it is sickening.

You mean they bow to you and don't criticize you for being a bad winner?

I play anyone too. If I get a challenge from a top 200 player I take it and I'll generally give people as many games as they want while I'm around. I don't know how many times you've said no. You pick and choose, and your usual preference is someone outside the top ranks.

I know you whined like a baby about it... oh, you lost a bit of your precious rating. Your the one with the silly conspiracy theory.

Terrific. I'm sure Rode Katers hadn't run around shooting his mouth off about how great he is. You know, the other day I beat someone when I had NY-Sea and Van-Mon. I apologized and told them how lucky I was. It was true and we both knew it. If someone said I was lucky and it was true, I'd say so. You are so damn proud it is impossible for you.

To all: My earlier offhanded comment of "market research" has become clear that it was a very poor and obviously not so humorous choice of words for my earlier curiosity about the volume of playings... what you all of you do by your preference of the online game is great for the hobby...regardless if you are inclined to playing the online game or playing the boardgame itself. So I am sorry to the people who saw that as belittling their own interest in the online game.

I was out of line with taking the subject lightly.

Rek is playing a lot with good ranked people, because he is asked to play a lot by the good ranked playing friends. It is not snobbish to play with playing friends. Rek is so popular in the lobby, that last time we had to arrange a waiting line in the lobby, to get to play with him Wink

Enough Is Enough... Tue, 31 May 2005 10:20
Dear brothers and sisters!

You guys wrote a LOT! Shocked
But I've read it all...

I should give you all a verbal ass-whooping and teach you some respect for this forum, but I think my efforts would be in vain. And besides; undoubtedly there will be a lot of replies on that and I would have even MORE to read. Truly, it has been enough.

So take care and stop your whining.

D.I.S.

P.S.
But with all do respect, unless someone is constantly harassing you with filthy sexual-orientated PM's, I really don't see a reason to put someone on your ignore list. Seems a little childish to me.
