It would be nice that for the upcoming 10th Anniversary of Memoir '44
If we could get some terrain tiles that seem to have been left out of the originals.
Like a standard terrain HILL WITH A VILLAGE.
Currently the only terrain is a Winter version of this tile.

I am sure that others have some tiles that they would like? Time to speak up...

The problem with forests on hills (and towns on hills) is that they didn't make scenarios that use them to good effect. Namely, that units on these hexes would get the plateau effect when shooting units exposed on normal hills. Firefight in Neffe has one and jdrommel's new Italian OL SFTF has them, but other than a Vercors scenario, they aren't used (winter or not).
One thing I used to do when I played Battle Cry was to put hill hexes on top of other hexes to make them stand out (or up I guess). You could do that for the rare building (fortress, radar station, town, etc.) on hill.
I'd like to see cliff hexes: half countryside-half hill hex and 1/3 hill-2/3 countryside hex, etc. Pointe-du-hoc (and perhaps others) might be a better scenario if there was no defense advantage for the unit climbing the cliff. Cliffs could also be useful near a mountain or other non-beach situation. There's a Vercors scenario where the hills nearly represent cliffs, and everything behind them is on the plateau. But there's not enough hill, road-on-hill, etc. tiles to fill it in.
Also, a few ocean tiles might be nice to create a bay or go along with those shore tiles on the side of the board.

There is a (non-winter) Castle depicted on the Terrain 67 - Castle card, but it's not used anywhere afaik.

I have "cut out" this, and filled in the blanks with best guess as there is no unobscured image of the tile yet outside DoW offices:

Will add it to the 10.9 VASSAL module.

Thanks Bart. And thanks for keeping VASSAL a fun place to play.

How about a village square, made like the bridge and bunkers that can just be placed on any hill? It could then be placed on even a desert hill without having to release that hex and terrain card too!
This is how TOI does it!

Good idea, but plain villages and cities are still the same, right?

Sure, it would just be a village that could be placed on a hill or even a mountain, like in Mount Cassino scenario's. Or maybe on the other side, it could just be a single building with different stats, like "Same stats as underlying terrain except +1 for armor and first flag is ignored unless command card says otherwise."
