My Dream Matches Fri, 01 July 2005 18:21
JohnK Submission Match
TheKid vs. Rek
I would like to see these two archenemies get at it in a JohnK Submission Match. Rules are simple (and stupid): both players are obliged to keep all 3 of their tickets at the beginning of their game. If, after a while, it might seem that one of them is heading for a heavy loss, he doesn't have to complete the game but may submit by saying "HULLO!" and then leave the match to be replaced by a DumbBot.
I told you it was stupid.

Hardcore Match
Razamanaz vs. DasZuggespenst
Two of the most dangerous German killing engineers in TTR. Raz has become a little soft since he started to be friends with Léachris. Now I want to see DasZug beat some sense into him. A Hardcore Match means: you block the living daylights out of each other while also trying, of course, to complete your tickets (or not).

King Of The Rails Match
ElSoyokaze (Winner 1st Tournament) vs. Question (Winner Open Tournament)
I would love to see the 2 tournament winners have a head-on collision.

Orc vs. Troll Match
Orc&Roll vs. Stollentroll
When I asked Stollentroll if he knew "The Galant" Orc&Roll, he replied: "No idea what this is." Laughing
Two green, hairy figures just for the fun of it.

Triple Threat Match
Bassie vs. D.I.S. vs. Rode Katers
A match between the 3 biggest Duchies to determine who's best.

Handicap Match (2 versus 1)
SKMorefield vs. Toadspawn and Horo
Somehow I think of SKMorefield as a big strong, friendly guy. A real American hero (see also his Mr. Incredible avatar). And that's why I would like to see him take on Toadspawn and Horo at the same time. I believe in you, SKM, I succeeded to defeat them both too (11 May)! Thumbs Up

One on One Match
SKMorefield vs. RejeanHoule
RejeanHoule is a rude, un-American Frenchie that needs to be taught a lesson. And who better than "the American hero" to teach him that? I played Rejean myself in two Triple Threat matches and called his mother a lizard (well, he asked for it).

Railroad Rampage Match
D.I.S. vs. Rek
In this 'open game', both players will have a sidekick that will observe their opponent and... give away their tickets by chat, phone or whatever medium! Knowing each others assignments will make this match much harder to win, but also more challenging. And boy, I just want to play hard with my buddy Rek. Grin

Last Woman Standing
Léachris vs. Thaddäus vs. Pilke vs. Jac vs. Anu
I would love to see our charming ladies of TTR to meet in a Last Woman Standing match... preferably in riding their trains in bikini's! Woohoo! No, just joking. Bathing suits will be fine too. You might ask why I didn't included the marvelous Womble in this match. Well, that's because she just gave birth to a son (Paul) and I don't want to risk her health. She needs to rest.

Royal Rumble
Pilke vs. Erzzoin vs. TheKid vs. Osamu vs. Razamanaz
A spectacular match between the top 5 players of TTR (as of this moment of writing).

DoW Staff Royal Rumble
Yann vs. Franck vs. MarkoPolo vs. Brice vs. Eric
My money is on Brice! I like him. Smile

Tag Team Match (Battle Royal)
TheKid and D.I.S. vs. Rek and Optimus
Ever wondered what would happen if the most hated personality on this forum, TheKid, would team up with the most irritating personality on this forum, The Ideal Son-Outlaw? And ever wondered what would happen if these two would go against the root of all that is evil and unholy, Rek, and his diabolical sidekick, Optimus (who recently changed his name to Loser-Typ)? Ladies and gentleman, may I present... my ultimate dream match. Despite having an ego that sometimes is too big for this forum, TheKid and I are quite sympathetic and sporty. Rek, on the other hand, belittles his opponents and is known as a mean, viscious hardcore player that can't handle a little friendly tease. Optimus is particularly known as the masked engineer that ran D.I.S. over with a brass train and nearly ended his career a month ago and STILL isn't suspended by DoW for that action. Yes people, all the more reason why these 4 should be locked up in railroad combat together. It should be great.

And... what are your dream matches?

D.I.S.

I would bet you lose money on the DoW match - Eric or Yann are way more nastier/better, based on my experience. No offense Brice - but while Brice designs the game online, I think Eric and Yann think of ways to win.

I don't know about the friendly part... Wink Wink but sounds like fun.

I would love to oblige you there! Amazing how arrogant and un-American SOME (NOT you Lea... Wink) French can be, especially after we bailed them out of 2 wars!

Great post, Peter. Hilarious! I would love to see all those matchups. Some thoughts:

Methinks the 'masked-engineer' is trying to hide his identity to escape from authorities??

Erzzoin (Mystic Rollmops) doesn't belong in the Royal Rumble yet, despite his 'ranking,' at least until he starts to play some recent, real competition. I would put Rek in there instead.

My dream match is thekid vs pilke... the game's two best players mix it up for a best of 9 (yes, 9!) series for the title of #1. Pilke is starting to pull away at present, (what with her horse-whipping and getting points from me and virtually everyone else!) but thekid has been experimenting and playing Europe, etc. so here he would have a chance to gain back some ground.

And Cab, my money would probably be on Eric too. I split a pair with him awhile back and he is pretty good.

I just saw this post, Peter, and was quite astounded to see my name here in this context. Out of curiousity, why did you call it a "JohnK Submission Match"?

I have played over 350 games of the US on-line game, and the only time I have ever left a game was when the modem collapsed on me, the game has died on me for whatever reason, or some such. I have only had this happen to me four or five times when playing US, and never when playing with the other account in Europe. I don't leave games on purpose, ever, even if I am losing badly, simply because I can't stand to do that since it says that I'm a quitter and all. I hate folks who quit in the middle of a game, unless there's some problem with the computer and all.

So, was this meant to be an insult or what? Smile

Mind you, funny message - and love the idea of quite a few of these matches! Smile

I suppose, but I don't know...will have to wait and see whether Peter responds to the post... Smile It was the whole submission part of the post that got to me...

...however, I will point out that I've played over 350 games with the slow modem. It's just slow at loading the graphics at beginning of game. Smile Once play starts, it's usually fine. However, there are glitches once in a while.

If there's a real deficit to the slow modem, it's a) not being able to join a game that someone else has started; b) not being able to play in multi-player games; and c) not getting to play some of the top-ranked players. Slow modem and all. Sad

Hullo JohnK!

It is not an insult! Think of it as a "homage". Smile

I like you, John, and I wanted you to be a part of this topic. But since you're not exactly top player material and you have this problem with a small modem, I came up with this type of match. It was just a joke.

I know you're not a quitter and as you know I am always willing to play against you - even if I have to wait for 30 minutes before we can begin our match. Sleep

John, I really hope you'll join us soon in the top 100!

Take care!

Peter

P.S.
I'm actually starting to greet people here in Holland with 'Hullo!' Laughing

Homage, huh? Smile I can work with that, but I guess I should apologize here for my statements to you about this whole business. I'm sorry. Smile

I guess I can see your point. I actually upgraded to a 56k modem on the weekend, but to be honest just can't justify high-speed or dsl internet for my system these days. Don't want ot spend that much time on the 'net, you know. Smile

As for being top player material, well, I don't think that's ever likely to happen, even though I have been playing better the last 200 games or so. I tend to win in streaks, and then lose in streaks. (Anyone else like that around here? Smile)

All too true, except the last part. Only takes 2-4 minutes usually to load the game. Bit faster now. Smile

I would like to, but it's not likely from where I'm sitting.

hehe That is a fun thing to know. I take it this is considered my "trademark", among the other wonderful lines about the slow modem and how long it's taking me to load, right? All in good fun, of course. Smile
