Player stalling Tue, 31 March 2015 20:16
What can we do when a player stalls? I'm playing djosoblanco in Ticket to Ride and we both needed the same spot. I got there first and now he's stalling. He waits until the bot takes his place, then comes back and stalls some more. I have asked him to please play, but he won't respond. When I finally just said goodbye and waited, he took a turn (after several minutes) but then when I took my turn, the stall returned. Any suggestions? Can I at least report him?

You can quote the Terms of Use:

Fair play in Online Play

By joining any of Days of Wonder's Online games, you agree to exercise constant fair play vis a vis your fellow players. Any player found voluntarily quitting an online game before its normal completion, using stalling tactics to induce others to forfeit, or using foul or obscene language, will face, at Days of Wonder's sole discretion: the freezing of their online account, resetting of their ranking and/or permanent removal of player privileges.

And obviously, if they then persist you can make a screenprint and report them to DoW.
I find for most players who use this 'tactic' the threat of that is enough to make them just quit.

Thanks for your answer.
I saw on another post how to report a player, so I did that. I didn't know how to make the screen print, though, so I wasn't able to include that.
For the future (although I hope I never need it again--most people are great!) how do I make a screen print?

This same player did the exact same thing to me today. As soon as I made my first play, he stalled for like 20 minutes. Just like in your game, he would repeatedly leave for like 2 seconds & then come right back in before I had a chance to quit the game.

I didn't even block him (to my knowledge). I think it was just a premeditated plan to take my points by making me quit the game. Happily, it didn't work. I eventually managed to quit during one of the 2-second intervals that he was out of the room. Now he's on ignore.

I have same problem with player valentina_6. There are 2 turns left in the game, they won't take a turn. They wait until they timeout then immediately rejoin. This has been going on for close to an hour. Players like this should be banned from playing and the game itself should be updated to prevent them from returning if they stall until timing out more than 3 times on the same turn.

Is there anything I can do other than wait it out? I really don't care about getting the win, but it's a principal thing of not letting them get away with doing something like this to avoid a loss. When people do this it's bad for everyone who plays the game.
