Ticket To Ride Germany IS Stand-Alone and can be used for Expansions! Thu, 01 February 2018 07:52
It can be used to play alone or expansions just as the original and Europe.

We use Germany as our core game, and do not own the Original or Europe. It has all the necessary pieces.

You should say this on the games and pages!

Not really. It has less cards than it's supposed to have.

The Germany version uses different colours than Original and Europe. It affects two of the expansions:
* Map Collection 6: Old West includes an extra set of white trains for playing with six players. As the Germany base game also uses white, Old West can not be played with six players if Germany is the base game. (This is rather stupid by Days of Wonder, not to use a brand new colour for Old West, like orange or brown. It also affects anybody who owns Nordic Countries but neither Original or Europe, who could have got a fourth colour with Map Collection 6.)
* Map Collection 1: Team Asia includes sets of 9 extra trains in the 5 "original" colours. That, however, is not a problem, as Team Asia is never played with more than three teams and three of the colours are common for Germany and Original/Europe.

Somebody above stated that the cards in the Germany version are fewer. That is not correct. It was so in the Märklin version, but that is no longer in print (and if I have understood the signals right, it will not come back either). Ticket to Ride: Germany uses the standard deck of train cards so that can be used for any expansion. (As can the train cards from either Nordic Countries, USA 1910 or Map Collection 5 (if some locomotives are removed from the deck of the latter).)

Ok I get it, it isn't for 6 players or whatever, but it works fine to play with 2-3 players (that's all we've played with so far)
