How T2R can support You in life... Fri, 16 March 2007 12:48
Sorry thadd for posting this thread and sorry mr. twister for not responding on these loads of self-laudatios but i need some space in this forum to tell You a funny story that has happened to me yesterday...

A few years ago I was invited into a kindof famous TV Show in German Television and from that time I visited some of the most famous in German private TV (for those who might know it: Oliver Geißen, Jeder gegen jeden, Cash, Herzblatt etc. Very Happy ). Since that time several casting studios still have my cell phone number and ask for my interest a couple of times a year (most of the time i miss those cause of work).

But yesterday the most curious thing happened to me in my life:

A woman called me up and was asking me if Im interested in a new gameshow, I would be able to gain 100.000 ¤ (where money is - Mudda is!) and the host would be a famous one (Kai Pflaume for the Germans). Of course I agreed and she asked me to run through a phone casting to check my knowledge - she wanted to ask me at least 3 (!!!) questions to qualify for the camera casting in Cologne...

Pay attention: Laughing

First Question: "How many of the 30 biggest citys of the USA are You able to name?"

And my answer was : "All 30."

She said: "No I mean right now. Without looking after them..."

And I said: "Yes I try all 30..."

You guess right, I started the T2R US-map from east- to westcoast Very Happy and as I reached the 25 or something without a break she interrupted me and yelled:

Casting-Woman: "That is unbelievable, how do You do that!?"

Mudda: "Next Question please!"

Casting-Woman: "We dont need those two more questions, Youre in!"

Curious? Fate? Luck? Call it what You want - I think its reeeeaaaally funny...

Ill report if I win the bucks... Rolling Eyes

German TTR Celebrity Muddaihrsohn Fri, 16 March 2007 15:38
Muddaihrsohn a TV celebrity? Well, that's only because of 'Zug Um Zug'! If you win the money you should split it with Alan R. Moon (yeah, like he needs it, the Bill Gates of board games). Wink

Hey, I would like to see you on this TV show. Maybe you can put your appearance on YouTube.com, also for the ones among us that can't watch German television shows. Smile

Viel Erfolg!

Haaaaaa

That's unbelievable Laughing

Btw, be lucky to be in the show after the first question, because i know the other 2.

2. Do you know the distances between those cities??

Mudda: "Yes, i know all, Helena Denver - 4 green, Atlanta Miami 5 blue, Denver Oklahoma City - 4 red......." Rolling Eyes

3. Do you know the distance between the Grand Central Station
in New York and the Statue of Liberty???

Mudda: "There is no station in New York, in the whole USA is no railway station, stations are only in Europe."

Are all the cities in TTR on the US map really the largest? um.. I don't think so, but nice story nonetheless.

San Diego is certianly larger than lots and lots of the cities on the map.

Now my friend Mudda, you watch old episodes of Hollywood Squares and when you see Baron, jump for joy. Laughing

lol it's a very funny story ! Razz
Now, i hope that someone ask me the same questions Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
100.000¤... wahh

And when will the show be ? Do you know it ? Or they'll contact you later ? (because if they prefer asking a lot of people in Germany, you could be in competition with others TTR-players)

Imagine you and Rolli will be fighting in this show to win these 100.000¤...
Imagine that you'll have to fight with ... 7 games of Ticket To Ride... Very Happy

Hi

Here are some of the questions, Mudda has to answer in this game show (and he knows them all!)

1. The 1000 ¤ question

Who had the most women in the last year?

2. The 2000 ¤ question

Name at least 3 famous austrian bridge players!

3. The 5000 ¤ question

Tell the nickname of the two famous danish comedians, one short and plumb the other tall and thick. Okay, here he needs the "second chance joker" because his first answer is Train&Tofra Wink

4. The 10000 ¤ question

How long will you fall if you jump out of a plane in 2000 metres?

5. The 20000 ¤ question

Which german soccer club has won 7 national championsships but has never and will never win a championsship in the german bundesliga?

6. The 50000 ¤ question

Which event caused the biggest flooding in the history of Essen, germany?

7. The 100000 ¤ question

Who is the best player in the world of the famous board game Ticket To Ride?

And this is - pity - the moment Mudda will do something really terrible that will cost him the money and he will never be invited to a game show...

...worldwide

bye, erps

You goon Mudda. Drakestorm is right. You tell a good story. TTR will not teach you HALF of the 30 biggest U.S. cities.

U.S. city and population rank:
Philadelphia #5
San Antonio #7
San Diego #8
San Jose #10
Detroit #11
Indianapolis #12
Jacksonville #13
Columbus #15
Austin #16
Memphis #17
Baltimore #18
Fort Worth #19
Charlotte #20
Milwaukee #22
Louisville #26

BUT, did you name any of these TTR cities instead?
Atlanta #35
New Orleans #38
Kansas City #40
Miami #45
Pittsburgh #57
Salt Lake City #113
Little Rock #116
Charleston #227
Or maybe Duluth, which is not in the top 300, or maybe even Helena, which is not even in the top 1000?

And hopefully you did not name any of the Canadian cities: Montreal, Toronto, SSM, Winnepeg, Calgary or Vancouver.

From the first time I ever saw TTR, it has been obvious that cities are picked based on location for game spacing rather than size or significance.

You story telling goon Mudda.

Uhhh. did I offend another US-friend, cause hes livin in a city that is not involved in the US map?! Very Happy

Im so sorry...

But CoolJ I understand what You mean, maybe she just wanted to test me in reacting quick and testing a bit of my common knowledge!? I guess its like that... (AND: I didnt mention the Canadians Cool )

On Europe map You find the same: Essen (my hometown btw) is only the 7th biggest city in Germany (population) and Cologne/Köln (4th) not included... Probably (no - Im sure) cause Alan R.Moon visited Essen twice for the Board Game Fair here.

My suggestion: ask Brice and Alan R.Moon for an update in the map... Rolling Eyes

Ill post if Im in the show, besides that: meet Muddaihrsohn in "QUIZTAXI" in a couple of days becoming a rich man (finally)... Very Happy

Nah, no offense Mudda. I'm actually from the San Jose area, but San Francisco is very close too. I am sure they wanted to pick known cities, but the game would not play as well if they only took the biggest and no smaller ones. Spacing is more important than getting all the big cities.

If your story is accurate, I am sure she did her job well - her job being to get a funny character for their show, of course Rolling Eyes Smart is ok for game show contestants, but ones who will entertain the audience are what works best. You must have entertained her as well as you do us here. Laughing

I know Smile Never said you are not the best. But i din't say "Greatest TtR player of alltime" Smile You are first in the overall ranking, so you are the best, that's the thing. Even if Roger Federer (is he still number one?) is not playing for weeks or is losing two tournaments in a row he still may be the number one in the list -> the best.
