OPEN de FRANCE 99_looking from Russia Thu, 16 April 2009 16:12
Hi all field generals were engaged in this well organizes event!

At first sorry for my poor English.
I'm really happy that it's happened and I was a part of French M'44 community. Thanks so much DoW stuff on it!
It was interesting that total quatity of players was 44 and equal with year of D-day. Smile
I'd been 26th on result spreadsheet of 1st day and did my best to improve my score to 20th on the second day.
The most important thing was chance to meet with a lot of like-minded person for me.

The most impressive and exciting Final battle was fought by my brother-in-arms Francoise aka HawkMoonvonkoln. Unfortunatelly you was defeated, Brother. Each of us was on your side and nail-bitting on you!

Thanks to my opponents for good sportsmenship:
Arnaud, Mathieu, Vincent, Yvon and Abdelkader.

I'd like to be a part of next event 2010 in Normandy!

Wow, it looks like the Open de France was quite the production! I wish I could have been there, and so does my wife since she's never been to Paris! Very Happy

For those who might not have seen, there's a User Page dedicated to this event with lots of great pictures. I don't know French so I'm not sure what all the pictures are about but I could get the general idea.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/mypage/536435/m44

One question for people who were there...near the bottom is a picture that says "Emotion". Who's in that picture and what was going on there? I'm just curious so if it was a private matter you don't have to respond.

Thanks for whoever went to all the work puting those pictures up and giving them all captions!

To HawkMoonVonKoln
It was just mistake, but I like this mistyping as joke to ConterAttack your Portugies joke with my Russian name. Wink Laughing
We have good support from our fellowers Marias Smile, but my last opponent Edeb Abdelkader's seemed much more prepeared to battles with his wife and two little babies.

Abdelkader, if you read my post, please transer my kindest regards to your family!

Francois, let's take our dauthers to Normandy. Maybe as participants? Your girl has this chance due to her ages. Smile

To Stevens,
We'll do our best to part in Normandy OPEN!

Sincerely yours guys
Serge (Francois - Wink )

A question: Were there some new scenarios played too? Or just official ones? I saw Brummbar's 'Battle of the Bridgehead' (pre-printed!), but there were some others , which I just couldn't identify!

Sorry, HvK, you forgot to say that all those scenarii were specially created for this Open of France and still have not been published by jdRommel nor DoW. I guess this should not be long for all players to be able to play them all around the world.

If not, then we really are a fullfist of happy fews to possess printed sheets of these scenarii...

[edit] HvK, did you try again the last scenario? It was almost hopeless for you to reverse the game when fighting back with Mehdi: maybe you've had better luck since?

It is Arnaud aka Lafayette. The Open de France was his idea and he spent a lot of time and energy planning that event with us. He organized and led meetings to prepare the event, reserved the place, wrote an entire player guide, obtained discounts at hotels for the players, was interviewed on TV, etc. He is by far the main contributor of the Open's success.

We thanked him for all his efforts at the end of the Open, everybody was applauding, and the emotion was so intense for him that he got teary eyed. Hence the "Emotion"!

It had worked from this manner :
5 games go & back
The 2 1st selected were the most gained medals guys...
Then Final between these 2 guys.
