  Memoir '44 FAQ Survey - Help Needed Wed, 08 August 2012 16:03
Thank you to everyone who took the simple Poll I put on BGG! 160 people (as of now) answered the three-question poll, but I discovered that it did not give me very much information and Stevens pointed out that only members of BGG could answer it! This survey open to anyone, and I hope to get even more responses.

This survey is 10 questions long and will provide me with a great sense of how people use the FAQ. It will also give all of you a voice for what you think future updates should be like or other information you think I should know about the Official FAQ.

Click here to take the survey.

Thank you for your time and for always being such a great community! Cool Let me know if you have any questions.

i have never used the faq. i find the rules, the summary cards etc more than helpfull enough for this game. DOW is about the only publisher where this is the case, btw.
Do you want me to fill out the poll too, even if I never used the faq?

That is completely up to you. If you want to look over the FAQ and just answer the last few questions where it asks how the Memoir '44 FAQ compares to other ones you've seen for board games, that would be fine. If you don't think you have much to say, you don't have to take the time.

I'm happy to have any feedback from anyone who wants! Cool

I cant see how you do not use or need that FAQ Quit2 Shocked

There are lots off cases that need clarification, but then i gess you play mostly at the online version, do you ?

When you play the boardgame or on vassal, more and more situations will pop up ! Rolling Eyes

Indeed, I mostly play the online version, but even when I play the boardgame, I have up to today never encountered a problem with this game. I find that the rules are very clearly written compared to other games. There has clearly been invested in playtesting and game development and not only in a fancy gamedesign.
It might be that I play alot of board and cardgames that have much less clearly written rules and am used to figuring out how the designer probably meant the rules.
It is possible I got a certain rule wrong, but if my opponent and myself agree on the wrong interpretation, I don't really see a problem as long as it is outside of tournament play.

The rule of thumb that gets me very far with most gmes: Assume nothing, except what has been written. Don't assume the written rule is wrong or incomplete, just because it seems illogical to you. Rather wonder if it might have seemed logical to the designer.
Another thing that helps alot: for almost all games, an obligation takes precedence over an interdiction, which takes precedence over an option.
So if one rule say you must, another says you may not, then you must. If one rule says you may, and another says you cannot, you cannot.

If you use the reference cards, (or would like to buy them separately from Air Pack), please mention.

I'd like to see the reference cards updated to match FAQ on their card compendium page, like for Behind Enemy Lines card.
