Asmodee plans for Memoir 44 Thu, 09 April 2015 17:05
This has probably been asked already but I ask anyway...

Since Asmodee is now DOW's rich uncle will we see...

reprint of the Overlords maps
new maps- more Overthrough maps like Dday
revised Air Pack
Campaign book 3 and 4
2 more expansions a year?

Just thought I'd ask Confused

I sure hope they reprint the overlord maps, because I will never, never ever, set up Market Garden again. Smile

You can find it sad, but DoW has never given much insight in what they will do next. I don't think having Asmodee as their "rich uncle" will change that. Wink

Well I tought it is works like the British Pubs, you know: "under new management". Very Happy Prices up, quality is the same, hopefully. Smile

I have this game since 2006, but was always a beer and pretzels game, after the seriuos tabletop miniature wargames. But now I moved, and I have 5-6 potential players for this, but nobody for the other wargames. Specially the D-day maps are popular, so I hope they will publish something similar this year.

One of my other WWII games is under "new ownership", Tide of Iron, formally Fantasy Flight, now 1A Games. The new stuff 1A has put out seems to be of better quality than the original, and the newer rules sets are the same as the original, with some original optional rules. I like the new stuff, although I don't own any of it yet. I hear the soldiers snap into their bases better. When I got my base set, some soldiers had to be trimmed to fit into the bases, and some of them I had to add glue to the pin for it to stay into the base.

But I've always found Days of Wonder to be a quality game company. I own three DoW games, but have played five different DoW games. So, I hope the quality doesn't go down any. When my Pirates Cove game came with a piece missing, they quickly replaced it after I sent an email. Asmodee has big shoes to fill.

I've pretty much moved on to other games that get more attention from their developers:

Heroes of Normandie
Conflict of Heroes
C&C Napoleonics

D-Day maps were a big disappointment for me...another reason I've moved on and expect very little for Memoir 44 in the future. I don't play this game with 6, 8, 10 or 12 people so D-Day is useless for me. Plus if I want a game that is going to take 2 hours or more, I'll play something closer to a squad level simulation - its a better use of my time.

On the other hand, we just got some scenarios from DOW and jdrommel continues to support the cause with great scenarios. Just wish normal sized Battle Maps were back in vogue.

I'm still very hopefull Cool

Also keep in mind that the game exist for over 10 years and still has a very active community en gets attention from the publisher and other people who are involved with the game.

Over here in Europe, there are many tournaments and other events where memoir'44 is being played, with much help from DOW.

Maybe its wishfull thinking, But I think something is coming up for memoir'44 Smile
