Actually we have a couple of very cool expansion items in the mix, just have to see if anything will work for the new release schedule. Asomdee is a big organization and has some very powerful games, so it may take a little time to determine if we can get any support for the Memoir '44 game. We will have to wait now just a little while.

We are still having a great time with the game.
We still believe that there are many and much more opportunities for expansions and fun. But it may be a little time before, and I am sorry, before we will see the next expansion.

Richard Borg

That's great to hear! I hope an Italian and a proper French army (i.e. non-grey and including artillery and tank pieces) are among them!

Personally I'd like a Polish army too, as well as more breakthrough scenarios.

BTW, aren''t there still about three card numbers missing in all the expansions to date (I'm referring to the terrain and unit cards etc.)

Battles Replay is broken - we are working on it Thu, 11 February 2016 15:18
Dear Memoir '44 Online players,

As an unfortunate side-effect of the security improvements that we made yesterday on our Web sites, the battles "replay" feature on the Memoir '44 Online Web site does not work anymore.

We are working on it and we hope to have it fixed before this week-end. It is a bit tricky because the system playing these battles in a Web page is quite sophisticated.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and your understanding.

Is it too much to hope that this security update is going to fix the Java applet? I just had my computer force the upgrade today, and can no longer run the browser version of the game.

...this is probably why the player population has dropped from regularly over a hundred to barely a dozen at a time.

I'm getting "basic: load: class com/daysofwonder/tt/applet/TTApplet.class not found."
I've reloaded java, rebooted my PC and cleared cache. Nothing seems to fix this.

OK, we found what was going on with the Web game. In fact, it works fine, there are players playing games right now. However some users still cannot access it because an important Internet provider did not update its Domain Name Servers ("DNS" in tech babble). We opened a support ticket with them.

If you are a technically inclined user, you can temporarily set your personal DNS server settings to the Google servers at 8.8.8.8. Otherwise just wait until they fix their servers, which should happen soon we hope.

Thank you for your patience,

The Days of Wonder team.

Ticket to ride on Android 6.0 Thu, 11 February 2016 15:25
Hi,

I've purchassed Ticket to ride for android in a Humble Bundle a while ago and I'd like to play on a tablet i just bought which is on Android 6.0.
But the game won't start... It just close itself right after I launch it.

My Tablet is a google Pixel C and the version of ticket to ride available for download on Humble Bundle is the 1.6.7-541

Is there a way to get the latest version to try without having to purchase it a second time?

The Humble Bundle has not yet been updated to the new version yet, so I would guess that's why it isn't working for you. Follow us on Facebook over here: https://www.facebook.com/ttrdigital/?fref=ts and we'll be letting everyone know when it is ready.

just curious but where did you purchase your set from, and how much was it? 'Dragon Talon' appears to be out of service, and the only other one is 'Funagain' but I am not sure how up to date the info is as it mentions, 'On The Way'.

then there's Amazon which is way too much. I heard the game is fun but would like to play with just the wife and heard the Nordic set was the best for 2 player, but can't seem to find it anywhere at a reasonable price.

thanks!

I bought from Quiche Games in Toronto (http://quichegames.com/). I did notice they are out of stock at the moment, but they were extremely fast in shipping. I'd give them an email or a call and see if they're getting more.

Most of the games are played on the web version and not in the app. The number is nearly the same, but the community is split.

Okay, before I continue, you're saying the problem with the lack of opponents now isn't that they're no longer logging in, it's that they changed the online gaming experience to remove most of the players from my environment.

While definitely a different conclusion, the same result - the changes in the App destroyed the online experience.

However:
A) I'm talking about the ONLINE game. The App game doesn't actually tell you how many games are being played.
B) WHY split the communities? It has created a situation where you sit for 20 / 30 minutes at a time waiting for an opponent online, but I paid a heckuva lot more for my online access than I did for my App purchases.

The splitting of the community is a big problem, I agree with you. The communities are split, because the new steam version has some features that the web version doesnt have, so they dont wotk together any more.
Unluckily nearly all of the 1500+ player (except you and me Razz ) are playing on the web version.
But the web version is not supported any more and all the players have to move to Steam some time.

Looks like the squeaky wheel - gets destroyed.

Well, Web version no longer works, period.

Thanks for completely destroying an addiction after 12 years of blissful playing. I don't blame the DoW guys for selling out. They deserve the fruits of their labor.

You can forget me ever buying a DoW game again in the future though. Talk about destruction. Wow.

We expect the web version to be up and running soon for everyone. Sorry for the momentary crash for some players.

Devoir de mémoire et plus... Thu, 11 February 2016 14:38

Rolling Eyes

Amicalement,
Jdrommel.

Unfortunately the problem with java and steam version appeared again. I once tried steam version, couldn't get used to it (Qorlas knows...) and removed it. I think I'll stop playing if web/java version stops working and is not replaced by something similar. And I'm honestly sorry but I'm not sure if I'll be able to play in the final, if I'm not able to connect via java (since yesterday I can't).

Java works on mozilla firefox. You need to use that browser.
So we can still use the web version this time.

Vassilis: Java is dying in the internet navigation. You are going to stop to play TTR and stop to use everyhing that use Java in the internet.

I think we are still safe this time but when Java will stop to work then the web version will die.

I think that the Steam version is the future and who cannot adapt to it sooner or later will leave.

Well as far as Web version goes. We have confirmation from DOW that the Java version is not going away anytime soon.

But on the other hand, it has been announced that all browsers are now cutting support for Web browser plugins (Java,Silverlight, flash, and etc.) Oracle is cutting the life of Java. In return they will be introducing a Java Websmart that will have to be installed on the computer.

So whether we like it or not our beloved Java version may soon come to an end. Not sure how soon this will happen but it is on the horizon.

So now is a good time to start looking at the Steam/ios/ and android version of the game.

Regarding tournaments, I think we need to run some small tournaments first on Steam before organizing our own tournaments there.
I would be willing to organize an India tournament/League and maybe a Swiss/Asia League or an AAT tournament over there.

I hope we will be able to launch tournaments with Asmodee on the new app if they feel like the app is ready. We (mainly Drake and I at the moment) still have a few things to work out with Jesse from Asmodee.
If the feedback is positive after those tournaments, we could start moving our tournaments to the Steam little by little in 2017.

Give Steam another chance. Days of Wonder has really tried to include our ideas as much as possible during the beta-testing. Communication has been top notch since September. They still have to work on a few features, and there's still a lot to improve but we are getting there. It seems very likely that other maps will be developed in the near future.

I just regret that only a few competitive players participated in the beta-test of the new platform...

I'd like to thank Eric from DoW for his time on the Google Group, for answering all our questions, and for the extra-thought at the end of the test! Thumbs Up

I have steam on both my desktop computer running Vista and my laptop running windows 7. It runs fine on both.

I have not noticed any slow down to my computer, but definitely turn off auto start so it doesn't start up when you turn on your computer.

On the Steam version there currently is no way to switch between TTR accounts (you can on the Ipad). So you can buy the Ipad app and have your whole family play, but with Steam it seems you need to each create an account and buy the game separately.

I think right now the Steam version is the most stable followed by iOS and then Android.

Things to watch out for on the new app.

1) You cannot kick someone out of a game (before it starts). So do not accidentally join a game, or if you create a game set a password or a minimum rank score to weed out the people you don't want to play with. Also add people to your ignore list as needed. Also can directly invite people to a game (I believe through your buddy list).

2) When creating a game, I suggest Multi-Session rather than Single Session so that if your connection goes down or the game crashes you are not replaced by a Bot right away. I usually go with 15 minutes - enough time to reboot my computer if necessary, but short enough that if someone rage-quits or tries to stall it is not too long. As the program becomes more stable I will lower it to 10 mins probably.

3) The timer runs during the fancy animations, so don't set the game length too short or on a slow connection you could time out.

4) When creating a game, you can set yourself as Start player. So for tournament games, one person can open all games and alternate setting themselves as first player and second player. However, when joining a game, you cannot tell who is set as start player til after the game starts. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

I can add my 5 coins about changing accounts on iPad.
I need to change my password on DoW website. Then iPad let me relogin with another account. Now I told about not updated iPad app.
In the new app it fixed and works good. But I need do it on the old app to play Java lobby. That's why I play my wife's account with Java opponents.

I absolutely prefer new platform!

I'm facing another problem: when I create a game with invitation form, in theory I could set the starter but I'm seeing that whatever I select between player 1 or player 2 it's always the other player that start.

I should check if it's the same creating a private game with pssw. I'll do.
