With Quadropolis, become the Mayor of your own city! Tue, 12 January 2016 15:15
After a hard day’s work, you take a break to admire your city through the large windows of your office…

At this hour, most of your citizens are going back home, heading for the tall buildings that you see in front of you. Some others are still wandering in the parks and gardens with their kids, and others decided to go shopping in the new mall that you opened a few weeks ago.

In the distance, near the harbor, you can see smoke rising from factories’ chimneys. Somehow, the city never sleeps…

In Quadropolis you enact the role of the Mayor of a modern city. You will need to define a global strategy to build your city according to your Inhabitants’ needs and outmatch your opponents, sending your Architects to have various buildings erected in your city. Each building allows you to score victory points. There are various types of buildings with different scoring patterns; many of them may be combined for better effect.

Will you be able to meet the challenge and become the most prestigious Mayor in history?

*Spoiler Alert* People are loving Quadropolis!!

Here's a quick review that was posted on BGG recently that captured a lot of things we've been seeing recently about Days of Wonder's newest game:

Quote:

So. Did Quadropolis live up to all its glow? Is it a hit? The short answer is "most likely." The long answer is the rest of this paragraph. Yes, every once in a great while a board game or a movie or a book or a con artist comes along and presents a certain something that seems so exceedingly simple, so blisteringly effective, so exceptionally promising that you wonder how it's never been done before. Quadropolis' ruleset is just this. You can learn the basics in less than ten minutes, and yet it feels fecund, complete, entirely unique. I'm waiting for someone to come along and point to a Kramer and Kiesling game from 200X that's already done the grid of tiles city-builder before, several Reiner Knizia titles that have featured a rudimentary version of numbered pointers that correspond to central and player boards-- heck, even an iPhone app that's already covered the spatial placement of tiles to score both laterally and vertically. They're probably out there***, many of Quadropolis' mechanics are sure to already exist, but the thing of it is is that Quadropolis still stands significantly apart from its predecessors. It already feels classic, perennial, the stuff of inspiration for future games. The average modern board game smacks of iteration, borrowed and improved mechanics, a mindfulness and appreciation of its many origins. Don't get me wrong, I love these types of games. I welcome iterative design and gradual refinement, think it absolutely necessary for the advancement of our hobby in general, but my first impressions of Quadropolis felt different. I'm hesitant to overstate any one thing concerning what I've enjoyed about Quadropolis; I'm certain you've all heard it countless times already. I won't be going so far as to claim Quadropolis is the most amazing and unique game of 2016, but the fact of the matter remains: I do indeed think the game is a great one, a very solid and entertaining experience in nearly all regards. I look forward to future plays.

If you haven't tried Quadropolis yet, it's worth checking out!! Smile

Quadropolis is now available in stores all around the world and the first reviews in the press are highly positive and enthusiastic:

“This thing, is a thing of beauty!”
“It is a phenomenal experience from start to finish”
“Everything about this game is so elegant”
“My hats off to Days of Wonder, my hats off to François Gandon [...] they put together something really really special. This is a total keeper”

“In fact, it’s difficult to find fault with Quadropolis. It’s straightforward enough for a family game night, but it packs enough depth to appeal to more seasoned gamers.”
“This is the kind of game that Days of Wonder has built its reputation on – appealing, accessible, absorbing – and it’s an early contender for game of the year.”

Expert mode too easy? Play with colored architects in expert mode? Sun, 01 May 2016 17:58
My experience after a few games in expert mode (4 players):

I think expert mode is too easy. We never encountered any problems with the architect numbers. It was always possible to get the tile wanted and to place it on the players board.
No blocked tiles or unreachable spaces on the player board.

Have your experienced the same?

Do you think it would be a good rule change to use the colored architects in expert mode too? So every player would get 5 architects for a round (colored 1, 2, 3, 4 and a gray 5) and has to use 4 oft these 5 in a round (similar to normal mode).

Has anyone ever tried this out?
Do you recommend it?

Thanks,
Stephan

Quadropolis token used in game play? Fri, 01 July 2016 08:15
Hello All,

In the box, there is an architect shaped piece that simply says Quadropolis on it. What is the purpose of this piece? In many other games, this type of piece signifies who began a turn or round, but the "mayor" piece does that in this game. What is it used for?

thanks

John

Cracked Pieces Fri, 16 September 2016 02:30
Hi!

Some of the acrylic components for our copy of Quadropolis have started to crack internally. We've only played the game a few times and we've treated the game very carefully.

We saw on BGG that a few people have requested and received replacement pieces, but those are cracking as well.

Is there a fix planned for this?
