Historical Background:
May 15, 1940 – Walcheren Island.
As per the Dyle plan, the 7th French Army is deployed in the Netherlands to resist the German invasion. Some units (like the detachment Durand) come by water to the island of Walcheren. But on May 14, the Dutch soldiers stopped fighting and the 7th French Army retreated into France: the detachment Durand is now alone in Zeeland. General Deslaurens, successor to General Durand, commands two weak infantry regiments, the 224th and the 271th RI, plus an artillery group of the 89th RA and some motorized elements of the 68th GRDI (Infantry Division Recon Group). Those units are lined up along the Zuid Beveland canal, between Flushing and Veere facing the motorized units of the SS Standarte "Deutschland". With air support from Luftwaffe bombers the Germans attack. The French defenders are unable to stop their advance. German soldiers manage to penetrate the island via the bridges and by sloshing through the channel between Walcheren and Noord Beveland. On May 17, the French line of defense crumbles. While a few units retreat into Flushing to be evacuated by the Navy, General Deslaurens stays with the troops that remain fighting and is killed in action, a rifle in his hands.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.

Briefing:
Axis Player: Take 6 Command cards. You move first.
Allied Player: Take 5 Command cards.

Conditions of Victory:
6 Medals.

Special Rules:
- Air rules are optional : If used, give the Axis player one Air Sortie card and shuffle the other one in the deck, at game start. If the Allied player draws this card, use the Spitfire (Planes 4).
- All German units are SS (Troop 2 - Specialized Units).
- The French unit with a badge is the 68th GRDI (Troop 2 - Specialized Units).
- The canal is impassable, except over the bridges. The channel is fordable: use the Marshes rules (Terrain 28 - Marshes).
