By: jdrommel - Last update: 10/25/2010

Historical Background:
After the battle of the famous Hill 112, Tigers of s.SS-Pz.Abt.102 went North of Vire in order to restore the contact with the troops of 3.Fallschirm Division. The 2nd heavy tank company took "La Bistière" then Hill 119 and its chapel "Notre Dame du bocage". The German defensive position inthat area was made with the Tigers and infantrymen of the reconnaissance battalion of the 9.SS-Panzer Division. At that time, the British operation "Bluecoat" was loosing its momentum, and troops of the 11th Armoured Division attacked Hill 119 on the 3rg of August unsuccessfully. The day after, the British attack was made with more means : infantry, tanks and artillery. The "Tommies" infiltrated the German lines but were repelled once again by the Tigers. But in the evening, the Tigers were ordered to leave the position to get back Chênedollé where their fire power was needed.
