Historical Background: On the 20th of August 1944,3rd DIA of general de Monsabert arrived near Aubagne, vanguarded by tanks of the Combat Command 1, 1st French Armored Division. The city of Aubagne was controlled by two or three battalions of the 934.Grenadier Regiment (244.ID) supported by some 88mm antitank guns, particularly one battery on the cemetery hill. Aubagne was a key position for the German defense of Marseilles. On the 21st of August, Sherman tanks of the CC1 attacked on the North-East from Gemenos while the Moroccans soldiers of 2nd GTM, attacked on the South from le col de l'Ange. The battle for Aubagne raged all the day and the next morning, the city was liberated. The road to Marseilles was opened. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
