Historical Background: On the 2nd of July 1941, the Allied last attack was launched against the city of Saïo (DembiDollo) where the remains of the Italian army of General Gazzera were concentrated. The three battalions of the Congolese "Force Publique" were involved in the battle : the 6th Battalion attacked on the Bortaï river with the support of St Chamond guns of the artillery battery, the 5th controlled Mogi and the north of Saïo and the 11th Battalion made a bypass on the right of the city in order to surround the Italian garrison. The Italian army was, at that time, fully demoralized and not able to resist to the Allied attack so General Gazzera capitulated on the 3rd of July. This victory was the end of the campaign of Abyssinia for the Congolese "Force Publique". The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
