During the night of June 8-9, 1944, German forces trying to escape the developing pocket between Omaha Beach to the west and Gold Beach to the east ran into elements of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st US Infantry Division who were holding the small hamlet of St. Anne on the Isigny-Bayeux highway. Between the farmhouses and the surrounding hedgerows, a confusing night battle ensued.
This scenario is an homage to the famous 1984 Commodore 64 war game "Field of Fire" by SSI.
