Historical Background:
On the 25th of March 1939, Mussolini sent an ultimatum to King Zog for the Annexation of Albany to the kingdom of Italy. Following the reject of the ultimatum by King Zog, Italian troops under the command of General Guzzoni landed on the 7th of April 1939 on several places of the Albany coast. At Dürres, the Albanese garrison, composed of "gendarmes" and civilian militia and armed with some old machine-guns, resisted for some hours to the Italian units of General Messe. The coming of some Italian light tanks ended the resistance in Dürres.
