Historical Background:
Landed at Utah Beach on the 15th of June, the 24th Cavalry Squadron was immediately send to the front-line near Quinéville. The hedgerow of Normandy was a hard terrain for recce troops as the Cavalry Squadron so its troops had to fight as infantry. On the 18th of June, the 24th Cavalry Squadron was ordered to make a reconnaissance on a crossroad near Bourg de Lestre, north of the Sinope river. The US troopers fought against German infantrymen of the 709.Infanterie Division, entrenched in the hedgerow. The battle lasted all the day of 19th of June around the crossroad, but at the end German soldiers withdrew the area. So finally, the 24th Cavalry Squadron captured the crossroad, a German ammunition depot and liberated Bourg de Lestre.
