Historical Background: During operation Novorossiisk - Taman, units of the 18th Soviet Army landed on the rear of the Axis Rudiger line. Two counter-attacks were made by the 13th "Calarasi" regiment of the 9th Romanian Cavalry Division to stop infiltrations of Soviet Marine infantry. But Russian troops were superior in number and could advance in the peninsula to reach Taman city on the 3rd of October. On the 9th of October 1943, all units of the German 17.Armee were withdrawn in Crimea : Taman Peninsula was definitively liberated by Soviet troops. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
Briefing: Axis player [Germany/Romania]: 5 command cards. Allied player [Soviet Union]: 6 command cards, you move first.
Conditions of Victory: 6 medals. Taman city is a permanent medal objective for the Allied player.
Special Rules: - Use "Specialized Units" rules (Troops 2) to all Allied infantry units. These are Black Sea Marine Infantry. - Use "Cavalry" rules (Troops 8) to the 2 Rumanian units with badge. - Use "Landing Craft" rules (Troops 15). - Use "Air Strike" rules (Actions 3) to the Allied player. - From the beach, hills are cliffs, use "Cliffs & Sea bluffs" rules (Terrains 11). - The Axis player lays out the minefields (Terrains 29).
