Historical Background: The two Soviet landings in Eltigen and Ganikale in November 1943 on the east coast of Crimea were successful. The German 5.Armee Korps ordered to the Romanian 6th Cavalry Division to reduce Eltigen beachhead with the support of the 3rd Romanian Mountain Division and one German StuG Battalion. From the 4th of December, the Romanians attacked in two directions, south and west of the beachhead. After a fierce battle to capture hill 56,7, the state farm and the lighthouse, Romanian soldiers entered in Eltigen on the 7th of December and took 1570 prisoners of war. A Soviet battle group of 820 soldiers escaped from the north of the beachhead during the last night and reached Mount Mithridate near Kertch where they resisted until the 11th of December. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
