Historical Background:
Before the planned invasion of Burma and Malaya, Japanese needed to have access to harbors and airfields of Thailand, so they decided to land first in Thailand without the agreement of this country. During the night 7th to 8th of December 1941, Japanese troops of the 2nd Battalion, 143rd Infantry Regiment landed on the beach of Prachuap Khiri Khan and captured the city only defended by a police unit. Then in the morning, another landing occurred on the Manao beach on the south in order to capture the airfield in a pincer movement. But the Thai Air force soldiers made a strong resistance until the 9th of December, inflicting heavy losses to the invaders by their machine-guns fire. In the afternoon of that day, the cease fire was declared when Thai soldiers knew that the armistice was signed between Japan and Thailand.
