Historical Background:
As it was impossible to prevent the Japanese to capture the oilfields of Yenangyaung, British General Slim ordered their destruction before the arrival of the enemy. But a brigade of the Burmese division, supported by A squadron of 2nd RTR, was trapped by the Japanese vanguard. So, the Chinese 38th division, reinforced by squadrons B and C of 2nd RTR, was in charge to relieve the Burmese brigade. This brigade had to battle to clear the way to the ford on the Pin Chaung river and managed to join the relief column on the 19th of April 1942.
