Historical Background:
On the 09th of July 1943, German divisions of the 41.Panzer-Korps tried to capture the southern part of Ponyri with the support of heavy tank-destroyers "Ferdinand", but the attack was quickly stopped by the Soviet defense. In the center of the German offensive, the 9.Panzer Division and the 2.Panzer Division fought against the 79th tank brigade and inflicted it heavy losses, but the German tanks didn't advance farther. In fact, only the 4.Panzer Division may advance on the 10th of July, around the village of Teploïe with the support of the Tiger battalion. The next night, the positions of the 9.Panzer were bombed by the Soviet armored train n°49. On the 11th of July, Model understood that German troops will never break through the Soviet lines and ordered to the troops under his command to stop the offensive. The battle of Kursk was definitively lost for the Germans.
